Yeah absolutely, seems to be the route most take when they see the price of a new one!

 

The blinged up T5 would be good fun though

 

Until it had a puncture

 

How much would this be roughly?

 

£40-50k

 

A brand new T6 California Beach is around 57k....

 

Where does the money go?

Seems a lot to convert a van to camper. Or is everything top top spec?

 

The California never starts as a van, it's built day 1 as a camper, shell used is euro spec tho hence slider on continental side even if requested rhd, where does money go? Mmmm I'd guess only half of it on cost lol rest profit to vw?

 

Ah ok. That explains it.

Surely it would be much cheaper to buy a van and convert to California spec?

VW are too greedy with their profit. Haha.

Our T5 didn't go on the never never just the overdraft, empty vans ripe for how YOU want it converted not the factory are the best . When I start wearing beige no need to iron trousers I may consider something coachbuilt but until then it's van with my own interior.

 

That really is bonkers money isn't it. And the ones I've seen the interior looks a bit rubbish to me.

 

I like the Trafic converions I have to say.

 

The lwb t5/6 is great but the swb is a tad snug! You lose the length of the engine in the front.

 

All this is gonna change now Ford have got the Transit to be a T5 looky likey, Most other vans have always just looked wrong and nothing else had the right styling until now. Mercedes tried to copy the T4 with the Vito and failed, they look pants
