For the trad bay look, use an oil filled plant mister.

  4. Take off the hose that is coming out of the top of the engine. And back fill it from there first. Then re attach and fill the coolant bottle slowly.

  5. Done that and got quite a bit more coolent in it I am doing the pop bottle trick and at revs getting lots of bubbles but only doing it for a short time as my temp gauge is going into the red but fans not comeing on (but they work when you join the two green connections) how likely is it a duff gauge or something wrong with my fans it was a cheap gauge of amazon

  6. How's your coolant bottle plumbed in?

Gauge could be faulty. But not sure, what does it look like?

  8. You have the coolant bottle plumbed round the wrong way

  11. Changed the gauge still get 100 deg c and no fans the pipe comeing from rad is still cold

  12. You've still got a big air lock, back fill the rad from the thermostat side too

  13. 1 fan should come on at 96degrees, check the earth connection to the fans

  14. If I join the green connector to put it in diagnostic mode the fans come on one at time

Although I havent got FI ( the kit is still in a box in the garage ) , I fitted a fuel return to the metal elbow in the fuel filler.

  16. Ah OK they should be OK then, don't worry too much about the temp for now, if there is air around the temp sender it will read high too.

Use your infra red thermometer to keep an eye on it.

You can also stick some ayer on top of the engine in the webs and if taht starts to boil you know you're too hot!!

  17. Is it worth looking at thermostat yet or wait until I've got a warm return pipe

Where did you acquire your engine from ...did you buy the whole motor ?

However you plumbed it, you cannot have a coolant loop going up and then down again without a way for air to come out of the top, as otherwise there can be a bubble of air trapped. Thats why the plumbing to an expansion tank should all run uphill, as it does when installed in a car, and there is a path for air bubbles to come out by gravity, or helped by flow in a pipe.

If you cant manage that, you might end up needing to fit some air bleeder points or narrow hoses that loop up to the expansion tank just to get rid of air, while not bleeding off coolant.

  20. Nick toon in Doncaster he did the loom too
    It was spot on
just the idiot that's done the installation lol
