  1. Despite backstabbing Career MPS and a total defamation campaign by the press, especially the 'Liberal' press, this is looking like a victory for the unelectable Corbyn, and a defeat for May. Called an election and didn't show up.

All those cartoons of Corbyn looking like Lenin have backfired.

  2. Do we have any liberal press? They all seem pretty right or left wing to me.

Fair play to Corbyns team. They played a blinder.

Mays campaign was a shambles. How can you call an election and then not bother to show up? The so called dementia tax was a disaster and I'm afraid to say that her record in police cuts caught up with her due to the appalling terror attacks.

Who was it who said "it's events dear boy, events"

  3. Oh f###ing joy. Now it's days and day of news readers and politicians talking more carp and spin as a coalition may be formed.
I've truly had enough after general election followed by the Scottish referendum followed by a general election followed by a EU referendum followed by a general election.
Best result of the night was Leigh spanking Wigan in the Super League 50-34.

    To Fellow Conservatives
Look it's not all gloom and gloom, we got 43% of the vote which is massive, its more than Cameron ever got, more than Major and even more than Tony "things can only get better" Blair, if you compare this to football, last season we won 6-1 this season it was 6-4, we still won, the other good thing, Corbyns support has bottomed out , he's not in number 10 this morning, this is a smack on the legs we'll change our leader then call another election and go again, put me in charge I'll sort it out

  7. I think that you start to get into tinfoil hat territory with that one. Having seen John "Welsh National Anthem" Redwood on TV this morning I agree with you that they have been monumentally complacent. His arrogance was astounding. Redwood's assessment of the situation was "they still want a Conservative government, but they want us to spend a little bit more on public services." This is showing little more than contempt for the electorate and demonstrating how divorced from reality he is!!

  8. In any other circumstance this would have produced a working majority. Bear in mind factors that contributed to this, which meant that this did not happen here:

The vote has largely polarised around the 2 main parties, leaving us with far more of a '2 party' system than we have seen in the last few elections.
The vote in Scotland was massively affected by Scots rejecting the concept of IndyRef2, so the SNP have shot themselves in the foot.
After last year's referendum, people have been motivated in greater numbers to actually go and vote, so we're probably seeing a higher turnout too.

After all, Labour have attracted a vote which not only smashed through the vote that Milliband got last time around, but was also greater than the winning vote of the Blair government in 2005.

Don't know what to think this morning. Did Corbyn play a blinder? Or was it more of a reaction to May's arrogance in calling the election because she assumed she'd walk it. If Jezza did play a blinder, pity he didn't do the same in the run up to the referendum. I voted on the basis of my MPs record. Happens to be Labour, and I usually vote Labour. Have mixed feelings, glad the Tories got a massive wake up call, glad UKIP got a kicking (although I'd never write them off and even Farage has been saying he might return to the fray ). Don't have massive confidence in Jezza still. It's all a bit of a mess isn't it? Oh well.....

  19. Mays refusal to go on any tv debate was ridiculous as she got hammered plus how can she defend herself or get her policies across, dunno who advised her on that one but they need sacking.

  20. So we now find ourselves in a situation where the DUP, who most people on here will recognise as "that lot that used to be led by nutty old Ian Paisley", and who are very keen on a soft border with Rep of Ireland and therefore a soft Brexit, and are never ones to shy away from just getting up and walking out if they don't get their own way..... will have huge sway over the hard Brexit tories, the three Ministers of which coerced May into calling this election. Also, it looks like UKIP took tory votes that mean they're now not going to get the Brexit they wanted and arguably would have got the Brexit they wanted if they hadn't fielded any candidates at all. By running they've done themselves over.

Democracy.... great idea on paper
