  1. No its not,but we think we know the problem. That is Clive does, I wouldn't have a clue myself!

  2. The foam seal stops the hot air from below rising into the engine bay and being blown around instead of fresh cool air .

  8. try and make sure you keep the joint to the rear , helps saves bits falling off n getting sucked in . oh n get it right way up ,ie shiney side down .

  9. Hissing noise could well be from the central idle unit on the left carb. If you've taken the hose off then it makes a loud hiss. Also affects low speed running.

    Good show so far!

  11. Once all the pipes are on and its not sucking air,new foam seal is fitted i would suggest to check the timing,go to halfords and get a timing light.
I can do a skype tune up!

  12. His is not fuel injection so its of no help.
Basically you can work out by where a pipe goes by the bend and size...

  13. Excellent news, modern technology (Skype) is amazing. Can't wait until he tapes the pipes up........it's like waiting for next weeks episode of your favourite show. What happens when he fixes it?:(

If someone has been farting about with it who didn't know what they were doing, I'd go for a full service and re-set the carbs.

  15. This thread is gripping but it's convinced me I'm no Tech Much guy.
My advice would be push it onto the road, pull off the fuel pipe in the engine bay, set fire to it and claim on the insurance. (For the purpose of GCHQ, it's a joke)

  16. I think thats where the hissing is coming from, the steel pipe with 2 rubber elbows is missing, the one that fits over the airfilter.

Best thing is to get a torch and look for unplugged hoses and put them on.
Get your head in and use a small mirror.

  19. A video would be useful if possible going around what you can see of the engine. Servo take off aLays a favourite as the rubber elbows can get quite flimsy and easy to knock off but if you Rev it that will make more than just a hiss and also it will pop back through the holes.

Central idling rubbers on the inner side of the manifold are another place. Haynes should give you some info!

  20. Right I have just been contacted and told that my engine is wrecked because someone has screwed with the screw I circled in the photo below.

Is this true??? Could screwing this have wrecked my engine? The guys saying it will have "burnt out the valves" whatever that means. I don't know if he knows what he's on about though. Please tell me though, could someone screwing the circles screw have wrecked the engine?

    If it has then I'm f***ed! image.jpg
