Loads of Roman campsites around here. Frome is home of the Roman hoard, that was found last year, by a metal detectoist.
I always imagine that ‘Frome’, was a sort of abbreviation as in ‘F(or). Rome, sort of thing.

Its a place that is sort of on the way from Bristol to Southampton when I am doing one of my 'going down stupid small roads or slow A roads' in the bus. I have been past it a few times.

 

It's traditional in Frome not to wear underpants. Nobody knows why.

 

Frome railway station is an architectural gem. An original GWR wooden train shed over the platform and running lines dating from 1850 makes it a unique survivor.
