i hadn't adjusted the slide on the alternator when fitting it, so had a few mm of okay there. its now sat about 1mm back from the main pulley.

gonna see how it runs and possibly shim the alternator pulley to suit

adjusted the clutch, got the correct bend with some shims.


went for a test run and 200 miles later im home... didn't intend on driving so far, but the weather was nice and the music good

200 miles!? Those new engine anxieties have started to fade then!

 

I'm led to believe the transaxle is nice. Then again it's genuine VW so why wouldn't it be . Our man's been advised to take it easy as it hasn't had a refresh, just a diff reset. I know what you scooby boys are like ..

it drives well now I've changed the front shocks to match.

i ended up using a universal throttle cable as the one nick sent me, no matter what i did, i couldn't get it to work nice.


now its got a super responsive pedal and a great clucth setup


just gotta keeo using it it does feel slightly scary having all this new stuff on the bus and knowing I'm ironing out creases, but all seems good.

i think its running a little hot though, need to get a vacuum bleeder on it i think

From what I understand having lived vicariously with Matt's for the last 5 or 6 years, they all do haha.
Or maybe that's just the perception . I think when it comes down to it you're just swapping air-cooled dramas for wbx ones. Drama is a given association with all these old VWs.
