  1. so,

i need to rid any air left in the system...

im sorry to mither beg and plead..

but can any BUSARU people give me tips on doing so

my drive is angled and I can reverse it up the ramps until the bumper literally touches the floor...

    from here what's the process.

    Many thanks

    Sam

  2. i purchased a litesteer module.

its used on their EPAS system and was pretty reasonable.. 75.00.

it hasnt turned up yet though, currently using the RJEs one with the dash pod disconnected, using my phone for GPS speed.

this keeps the ecu happy without putting strain on the cable until the gps one arrives

  3. I'll just buy some rose joints and make it better myself.

ive remedied the cable action by using a universal empi one, literally zero drag and throttle response is incredible

  5. Leave cap off, keep squeezing and massaging the pipes. If the engine gets so hot the fans cut in, then Switch off and let it cool down them try again.

  6. i will do,

i dont think theres any issues with his product, but it just didn't want to work with what i had, i tried my absolute best to try it in every conceivable way but no luck.

i used his conduit system, which is top quality but i couldn't get the throttle response or return the engine required.

obviously the bus is 50 yrs old and what works on mine might not work on others so i accept the fact of modding, end of the day I've fitted a non standard system into a bus.. so I'm not annoyed or whatnot, just happy there was a simple solution

Shim it out to zero. My boat alternator had a 1mm offset and it used to produce a pile of belt dust and end up slipping after a couple of hours of running. The belt gets worn very fast .

  8. yes ive bought a 4 rib belt too so it runs alot better vs the 5 rib.

i plan on shimming it out but unfortunately snap on have my buzz gun and i cant get the pulley off singlehandedly without it

With the cooling system, is it worth finding the high points in the loops and fitting T pieces to thin hoses with manually operated bleed valves that are above the coolant tank level. ?? Up in a wheel arch ??

And having the actual coolant reservoir somewhere that is actually above all of the coolant high loops.
So all you do is take the cap off the reservoir, open bleed valves, top off reservoir, close bleed valves and put the cap back on the reservoir.
It seems that this is one of the things that Subaru conversions havent worked out yet, prepared to faff around rather than redesign a system that isnt really quite working right..

  10. the coolant Reservoir is already 300mm above the highest point, i thought about putting something into the spare wheel well for ease of filling. but i dont know how much more effective 50mm higher will be.

I can’t see 50mm making any difference when you’re already 300 above, The beetle I recently done i fitted an inline bleed off screw at the heater, and also used the small overflow from the rad as a bleed off, rather than running it back to the reservoir. Have you been running it up to temp with the cap off? Thermostat definately opening?

  12. Do you have the bottom of the coolant bottle tee'd into the heater return?

if you do the place where you have the bottle looks as though it may have a slight uphill run to the T. Double check, as there may not be enough of a "head" from the bottle for the bleeding process.

Also you can try taking the top hose off the engine and back fill it.

The coolant pump is particularly crap at pumping air, so vigorous pumping by hand is required on the bottom hose.

What temps is it getting too?

  13. I have been in Europe for the last 4 weeks, super hot some days it has been 38 degrees. My Fellows Subaru, after Ben told me how to drop the scoop, my fault forget it was raised for winter!!! generally has been running at 83 degrees on the flat and about 86 going up a mountain. Queuing at tolls/ traffic it was approaching 90 then the fans came on and the temp quickly dropped.

  14. yes it goes into a T at the heater return

  15. sits at 90 all day long, overtaking yesterday at getting to about 65 we'd see 93/94.

I'm spending my morning massaging pipes
