We now have an engine fitted up nice and tight, was a struggle but we did it.

We made a cradle to sit in the pit with a pnuematic cylinder underneath braced up with a box section to fit round the sump.

Up we went and into place

A few fiddly bits to do in the week (some numpty forgot the air scoop to the oil cooler so we had to jiggle around).

One point worth noting - Remtec supplied the engine with the wrong studs in the bottom holes, they were flush with the gearbox case, out the engine came to fit some new ones.

Tinware all bolted up and a heat exchanger now fitted

Well....over the weekend, we talked about starting Gusbus up for the first time in four years...well

    Here goes:

We had to abort mission after the first video stopped, the left hand rocker cover started to pour oil out. The problem boiled down to the rocker gasket not seating properly but also the spring clip had little tension and the cover slipped around allowing oil to leak out everywhere.
We will get a new set of gaskets and try again, the spring holds enough tension now so thats sorted!!

  15. YAY go Gusbus!

    Well done mate, Brilliant!

it certainly is!! Oil leak is now cured, the electrical wiring is tidier in the engine bay but the throttle linkage was not returning correctly, bit of fettling to sort. The engine idles beautifully at 1000rpm, nice rumble too!

  20. Great stuff mate
