Fair play mate looks like you ve done a tidy job on the camper I completely restored 1 like that last year, never again! Ha cost me £9k to do and many trips to eye hospital and 2 yrs working on it ha once I get my pc sorted I'll post some pics of mine up
cheers fellas - now we are on the prepping stages, its given us a push to press on with getting the paint done! Major needs some tlc soon though, new brakes all round and balljoint gaiters and maybe new door panels!
gus bus is alive ;D congrats on getting the engine in and running .........looks like gus bus will be on the road soon
Not updated Gusbus lately, still cracking on getting the old paint off, its been a long slog but we are starting to get somewhere!! Another classic PO use of filler the sides arent far off being completely bare, we are switching from sanding machine to sanding blocks now to get into the fiddly bits!
I found that the flatting and filling killed my motivation ...........thats why I cheated and got some one else to do it in the end ;D keep up the good work mate
Its a long slog Dale, work keeps getting in the way and causing us delays!! We're pressing on though ;D
Mork, It looks like your 73 was originaly a Wild Westerner color combo. I didnt read every post in your thread here so if its been brought up, my apologies. But here is the link to the other discussion. I like the color and direction your are taking your bus! Keep it up. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=527392&start=0
Hi Nothboy, I do like the wild westerner colour scheme but Gusbus is all over green, not two tone..more is the pity!! He's a european (dutch origins) from what info we have found out about him tells us! If he was a wild west, we would have gladly painted him back up to that spec but when we bought him, lots of bits was missing (little bullett indicators, interior etc) Cheers for the link, I'll have a good look tonight!
the filling and flatting work has begun but its really time consuming - along with mastering filling techniques but slowly its getting there: Starting to look a bit better than the previous photos
Good god Mork that brings back memory's of my apprenticeship -- i gave it neck - hated filling and sanding
