Gearbox selection issues

  1. Nah......never used the handbrake as it’s as flat as a fart where I live ;) :D and I have another issue now.......bit embarrassed to admit to though but since it’s just between us two.....I fitted and new dipstick bellows whilst I had the engine out and guess what? It’s split already!! Only been out it the bus three times!! Luckily I ordered two so I have a spare so today’s “to do job list” just got longer.......So the million dollar question now is..........wait for it.......wait for it......
Do I take the engine out again :D and change the dipstick bellows?......or have a go at fitting it in situ? Or even have a go at making a new one out of some injection fuel line I have kicking about. Still could be worse.....it could be raining!!

  2. Have a search on here for recent bellows threads.

The original style can be fitted in situ. From recently bodging one from hoses, forget it unless you're into removing the heat exchangers, fan and loosening the fan housing. Even then it'll send you batty for 1/2 an hour Taking the engine out will just make it harder.

I'll never get this off again!

  4. Oh and I forgot to say @snotty......I found my Empi shifter......it’s was still exactly where I’d thrown it!! :D E5B60FC9-0733-46A5-AEAB-1D3817AF375A.jpeg

  5. Could you not get it over the fence?

  6. Ha ha it made it over the fence....luckily it’s only a four foot fence so easy to retrieve from the farmers field.

  7. May have to get rid of my empi shifter. I can’t select reverse gear. Checked the trigger and reverse gate all seems to be working. Sent off for bushes and linkages so will get stuck into replacing them of the next couple of weeks. In the mean time I’ve cut the handle off my angle grinder filed the end slightly and using that on the front of the selection rod fits perfectly

Just remember the donut bushing inside the nose of the gearbox when after all else it still doesnt shift.
And the EMPI shifter has a few spot welds that fall apart too..
