Ah ours have feed in both the X and Y and the Y we call cross feed ..... Can't beat a decent Bridgeport ...we have a couple of new XYZ mills and they are pants ...like anything now you can't buy decent new machines unless it's DMG
Cross feed is on the rh end of the bed I'd not say no to any tooling that's going for nowt Yeah, currently using a 3phase converter, but I'll change it to a vfd ay some point as the motor is 440/220v, and the rest of the electrics are 110v, so it seems silly stepping it up to step down again...
I've changed my mind....I want those!! I'd love a little Bridgeport or similar for home. Been off tools for years, but how often does the phrase "if I just had one of those, I could make something for that" come up! I did some of my apprenticeship on a Bridgeport, as well as Huron's (however you spell it) and other makes of lathes, millers and grinders. Being able to machine parts instead of having to make do with bending metal would be brilliant
How rude... better than no lathe Place I used to work at had the mother of all 3 phase lathes... Was a Ward, the 3 phase motor was the size of a dustbin laying on its side Scared the poo out of me when I first started using it... no safety gear on it, motor wasn't even braked... Well it was, but the brake needed adjusting Almost identical to this one..
Got my con rods back today. So ill hijack my own thread back now and get on with putting the engine back together tonight.

i used to work on one like that as part of my workshop training as an apprentice engineering draughtsman , it might have been a bit older and we even had older overhead belt driven lathes and grinding machines too lol that one needs the turret filling with hand ground tools n drills etc too those were the days !!
