Do you know anybody that's been pulled up by the police for travelling out of their area

  1. My sister Cath & my Mum (84) have a pre-formed bubble going on, they’ve been in contact for months & Mum had the vaccine last week. I learned yesterday that because Cath’s two boys were travelling to hers for xmas (plans have changed as one is in Manchester & one in Wales so they are staying put), Mum would be home alone so I invited her to ours for dinner (she lives 5 minutes from me) .... stay a couple of hours then drop her back home when all the festivities were done.... She refused citing our stairs were too steep!! I can’t tell you how relieved I am at having steep stairs! ;)
If you are doing it Nige & as long as you’ve all isolated for 10 days beforehand (bit late now), stay as short a time as possible, open all the house windows & doors (be like the arctic), keep your distance, no laughing, no shouting, no singing, no hugging, no dancing , don’t share cutlery etc, good luck! Also what’s the worst plod can do?

It's a strange one. I knew a lad in his 40s that died from it (no underlying issues) and I know a guy in his 50s tested positive with no symptoms. My Daughter just lost her taste and smell.
As you say stay safe

I hadn’t seen the Christmas ‘special’ in being allowed to stay overnight in tier 3. The restrictions seem to change faster than I can keep up, and going back to your original title I guess that if you’re not contravening the rules then I can’t see how you could be pulled for it, I guess it’s just a matter of your own risk appetite.

  7. I think you miss-read my post , i was saying you`ve more of an excuse because you WILL be sleeping in the van rather than saying you`re heading for a B&B if/when you get stopped ..

    :hattip:

it’s an awful thing this :(

If the news of the South African variant is also true, you really want to be acting like you are already in Tier 4.
The next month is going to be miserable, dont make it worse with regretting what you did at Christmas.

  13. We had this conversation with our youngest son.
We have only seen him for a few hours in the last few months and very little more since the pandemic started.
Him working 16 hour days and most weekends hasn't helped but now the pressure is off him he's adamant that we still wait until things start to get better.
The vaccination program, that soon will accelerate rapidly, will be a game changer.

I can't understand why so many people are trying to do their damnedest to wriggle out of the guidance/rules.

Where did common sense go? (don't answer).

  16. So 4 pages into a thread about being pulled over by the police and no one's mentioned being picked up by the fuzz?

    ***shakes head***

  17. These people aren't wriggling out of the /guidance rules, quite clearly playing or at least wanting to play by them. It's up to all of us to make our own decisions regarding risk and what we do on our final day of Tier 2 freedom. I drove through a Tier 4 area yesterday and filled up with fuel at a Tier 4 pump that doesn't make me an idiot, lacking common sense or a bad man. And for Purple's list I wasn't picked up by the police as I drove across the imaginary plague border.

  18. I don't want to offend, but this sort of attitude is exactly why we are in such a mess. Folks looking at the rules and trying to make the absolute most of them, pushing the boundaries, sometimes going beyond.. that's great if you want the virus to spread. The tier restrictions are mean to be a limit not to exceed, not a target.

    744 deaths yesterday.

  20. I was thinking the same thing, but you have expressed it far more eloquently than the rant that I was pondering.
