  5. We can only see if the plod do stupid things like in the march lockdown. Worst seem to be Northants and Cambridge who thought it was a good excuse to pretend they were in America and turn you back at the border boy. Oh, Merry Christmas to all as well.

  6. I've been told police were pulling cars up on the M62 today.checking number plates on ANPR

  7. What for? Can't they see them when the cars are moving?

You’re not going into a tier 4 area which is where I would think there would be more focus.
Even so there are huge stretches of the National motorway network which are now tier 4, but which are essential for movement around the country. Not only by hauliers but also legitimately by people going to work, so as far as I can see, policing these for transgressors is not practical in anything other than an ad-hoc spot-check manner.
Asides which you are going from 2 to 3, and you are permitted to drive through a tier 3 anyway.

You’re not however supposed to stay overnight in hotels or camping in tier 3 as far as I can see.

I reckon you’ve got more chance of being shopped for camping by a nosey neighbour.

  9. the way things are going I think it may be earlier, than January, possibly after Boxing day say goodbye to New Years Eve

  10. You thought there was a chance of a new year's eve party?

Treat it as though they gave you COVID. Isolate yourselves afterwards properly for the full period.

Dont stay long, dont stay overnight. Drop by say hello and GTFO.

You are more likely to be the selfish people who spread it than the victim here. Feel guilty.

The rules and laws are there to save lives . Death is permanent. A missed Christmas is merely sad.

Mrs C brought it into perspective also. She said, what if we cancel Christmas and it's your mum's last?

  13. I just said say goodbye to New Years eve never mentioned a party but, Well you live in Hope

  14. We are in a deadly pandemic which is getting worse and you are only concerned about being caught by the Police. The rules are clear, stay at home, don't travel, keep away from other folks and definitely no overnight stays. If folks continue to ignore the rules or look for loopholes, Covid will have a field day and infections will rocket out of control far worse than now.

It all depends on your level of conscience . It helps if you haven't got one ,you obviously have Jivedubbin it might just be a relief just not to do it .
To be honest how many of us on here find it a relief when Christmas is over .

  16. we're not going anywhere, or seeing anyone - it's a real shame but its the best possible course of action

we're "only" tier 2 here but for me that is irrelevant. there is a global pandemic and we have a new strain that is super infectious, way more than we had earlier in the year. if staying at home and not seeing anyone is a possible course of action then that would be the least risk option surely? You might infect them, they might infect you, you will need to stop for fuel/ breaks on the journey (m-way services?) and pick something up?

Make your own choice, but i really feel that the pandemic is being made worse by people looking to "get away" with the most they can under the rules and looking for loopholes..

  17. The son of a work colleague of my partner was stopped on The M62 ,the police told him they were stopping vehicles at random especially if the plates were from a higher risk area .
