Do you know anybody that's been pulled up by the police for travelling out of their area

  1. I would like to see my daughter, son in law and grandchildren on Xmas day.they live in Grantham,we live in Chester.
The government guidance is that you are allowed to travel before and after Xmas day to enable your Xmas bubble to happen so long as you don't have contact with anyone out side of your own household.so we were thinking of camping in there drive without contact Xmas eve and Xmas night ,returning home boxing day.
Anyone else thinking of doing the same ?

  2. No. I hadn’t really considered camping in your daughter’s drive.

  6. The Christmas bubble is in law ,so is the not contacting other house holds, but you can travel to enable the bubble to happen ,they grey area is you should stay local but the advice goes on to say you can stay in a hotel if you need to,to make your bubble possible.,you wouldn't stay in a hotel if you were staying local ,it's really confusing

  7. There was some police chief on yesterday,
Who said they would Advise people of the restrictions in place,
And unless people were purposely ignoring them then they would give them a fixed penalty.
    Ohh scary :)
    My immediate thought was like
When driving on the motorway we advise you not to break the speed limit but you can go as fast as you like
    Until we catch you,
The chief policeman also said that the majority of people abide by the law and the tiers imposed,:)
If we were all in the same tier ,
And a police force that meant business
Then there would be less people trying to find loopholes ,
And we might not be where we are now
    o_O

Jivester so long as you stay safe I can't see an issue. I seem to remember a large camping trip being organised not long ago so........

  9. My only loophole is that staying in a camper with no contact is the same as staying in a hotel with no contact

  10. Are you travelling to or from a higher tier?

I’m not sure of the Christmas exemptions, but the normal rules require you to return home to your main place of residence each evening. In other words no staying at second homes or relatives etc.

  12. In the main lockdown. I was making a chilli but forgot to buy tinned tomatoes. I asked my wife to drive to the local shop just round the corner. She was pulled over and they asked why she was out. It wasn’t late at night. She told them it was to buy tinned tomatoes. The officer asked her why she thought that was essential travel. She said we are having chilli. He told her to go to the shop and then go straight home. I half wonder if he drove past later to see if the car was on the drive as I think he took her details. I think it was a slow day.

personally I’d say just do it, as long as you aren’t stopping at service stations on the way (snotty) then what’s the harm.

    Have you been invited?

  14. I`d make the trip and if you get pulled state the govenment guidelines were too confusing to understand .

    Or ....

Tell them you got lost

  15. I saw a brilliant comment for a guy on a fishing forum. He said their were reports that police would be knocking on doors to see if relatives had stayed too long on xmas day.

he wondered if you need to prebook this service. :)

  16. I can’t see what’s confusing about them. It’s a simple 600 page document with more loops that a rollercoaster. Surely you’ve got a solicitor that can check it over before Christmas for you?

  17. Go and see your family, just don't put anyone else at risk. If you get pulled over then plead your case and if plod insist, turn around and go home.
At least you will have tried your best.

  20. I’ve not heard of these places. Are they close together? Is there much chance of actually seeing any plod? Round here they mostly hang out in local kebab shops pouncing free food. So you should be fine I reckon.
