Do you know anybody that's been pulled up by the police for travelling out of their area

  1. The alternative is state control.

It does bring a smile to my face when I get you ranters start up. The little work I have done since March I have worked 99% from home, hardly met anyone socially and when have have travelled separately and maintained distance, went to the isle of wight on a self contained household crewed yacht for my holidays, supermarket shop done at 8pm when they are quiet. And it is people like me who have put the country in this situation, I think not. I think I can determine what risk I am prepared to take and put others in. As for other people that is up to them.

  2. My wife and daughter are primary school teachers, who because of the myth that children can’t get it to justify a political decision to ensure that schools are kept open without teachers having PPE, have had to work. We shielded our daughter through the first lockdown as she is highly vulnerable, but apparently not so this time. They see parents at the school gates chatting within 2m without masks, and any system to maintain distances in school went out of the window long ago.

Anyway and perhaps unsurprisingly many children in both their classes tested positive in the last week before Xmas, and my daughter tested positive on Monday. We have spent Xmas in different rooms, daughter is unwell, and my wife and I are marmite terrified.

Let’s talk no more of how to bend the rules or given fuel to myths. Let’s just look after ourselves and our families, and work on the basis that it is much worse than we are being told, which is closer to the truth.

  3. I have no problem with most of your post, but the last line letting people make their own judgements and decisions is not appropriate in the current situation, where there have been many reports (and my wife and daughter have seen first hand) of people flouting the rules. In these circumstances whether you call it state control or otherwise, people must have some level of of a boundary to keep the irresponsible from doing what they want at other’s expense.

I am not a ranter but if you were in my position of not knowing whether my daughter will live or die, you wouldn’t be smiling either, with respect.

  4. I cannot reveal my source, (but it is very well connected).
They intend making the whole of the west country, which is the latest hot spot, with alarming figures.................Tier 4.

    BE WARNED.

  5. It's well understandable..

My wife and daughter work in a primary, and the kids are very good,

    The parents not so much..
a lot of them are from a spoilt generation who want what they want it.

One scummy mummy had a sleep over for her child's friends..
    While the mother had c19..
Then the whole year group had to isolate..:(

  7. I do sympathise with the teachers, forced back into an obviously contagious environment with the intention of encouraging parents back to work - it's a terrible state we're in ...
Hoping for a full recovery .

  9. We've just gone into tier 4 in Norfolk. It's quiet but nothing like the first lockdown when we had deer wandering down the High Street in daylight.
Our eldest son is a teacher in a Special Needs school which is as bit worrying as they tended not to have the best hygiene apparently. Some parents just want them out of the way come what may.

  10. My wife was married before me. Her ex husband is actually alright and he still has regular contact with my step kids. He’s now remarried as well. Last week his wife had what she thought was a bit of a winter cold, very mild, but because she had a bit of a temperature she thought she’d better have a test just be on the safe side. Christmas morning she gets her results. Covid positive.

they were due to spend the day with her parents who are in their 70s and have had poor health. Because where they live was tier2 yesterday. A lucky escape and it just shows how easily you can accidentally spread it to loved ones.

  11. Lets not forget that the government are trying to put the fear of God into everyone with this tier business. Let's also not forget that if you get this virus you actually have over a 90% chance (some say higher) of good recovery because of drugs that are being used now.

  12. It depends a lot on age, state of health and genetic factors as far as I'm aware.
Not being a teenager my chances are a lot less than 90% I'd say, even if the 90% you quoted is correct; "lies, damned lies and statistics".
I'll listen to my immunologist son rather than facebook et. al..

90% survival is still 10% chance of death.
I’ll be sensible thanks, and probably won’t bother listening to the tin-foil hat brigade.

The tin-foil hat brigade are part of the problem, insisting its all b******s and there is nothing to fear but an ultimate agende, masks dont work blah deh blah.

Being sensible is the best approach, too many folk (none on here btw) think they know better than the medical experts!

  18. I never said anything about 10% death rate, that's just wrong. If you want to be controlled by the government then carry on and marry your new soft toy when China takes over. I'll be the one with the big rocket launcher that's gets you out and onto the ferry.

ha ha ha. Do you burn 5G masts too?
Ok, you didn’t say up to 10% die. You just said up to 10% don’t make a good recovery. I’ll stick with being sensible cheers; and laughing at morons.
