  1. The underside is good thank god, u never know what ur gona find do ya. So what do you nice folks out there advise to paint her bottom with?

  2. Can of worms this question lol

Hammerite underbodyseal with added waxoyl is what ive used on a few projects and my bus

Its awfull scraping it off years later to reapply but im a big beliver that it protects well when applied to sound steel

  3. so does that still stay all nice and waxy then? be like what I'm scraping off but i do think that is the best type of protection. How long has it lasted?

  4. I hate Daisy!!!! shes so so dirty!

  5. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

  6. Not been on for a while as its been a hard month with the bus but have finally finished scraping the bottom off and just need to got over it with my heat gun.

Then going to shot blast it, did a little spot yesterday and im all excited again now!!!

Hoping to have it blasted by next weekend then painted and back on its wheels the weekend after

    We'll see!!!

  7. Nowthen peeps its been a while since I last updated as I've bin away and had to sort the downstairs toilet out!

I got myself up to scarborough breeze at weekend which was great and I'm fully motivated again :D I have been in the garage today and now I've got all the sticky tar stuff is off with a heat gun, which by the way is the worse job ever in the whole wide world!! have started shot blasting the bottom its a slow dirty process but well worth it, only got one wheel arch done and in acid etch but well happy with the result.

    Here's a sneaky peek!!

  8. Its a nice feeling when you get to that stage

I wish i had a roll over jig and a strong enough compressor to shot blast the bottom of mine ive got rsi in my elbow from all the scraping and sanding by hand

  9. It is good but still hard work and slow, not as hard as by hand though lol I was surprised about the compressor though as its biggest single phase hydrovane about and it only just keeps up, mind you it is a bit tired now.

  10. your bottom looks quite nice after a bit of scrubbing ;D

    nice work :)

  11. Any updates on this one mate?

  12. nowthen boys, girls, men and women I have an update. After a few months of hating my van as i'm sure most people do at some points during a full restoration i'm back on the straight and narrow.

What I can tell you is is that shot blasting is the single most sole destroying job ever in the history of the world and it is worth paying the money to have this done before you start anything, in hindsight I wish I had!

So the bottom is blasted and rust proofed, just got a couple of hours worth left to do.

Have just bought my first gun to lay some primer ;D

and have spend a couple of afternoons repairing the trays above the chassis legs in the engine bay, which may I add was a pain

started like this and was worried about the condition of the chassis leg
    [IMG]

    but thankfully was ok
    [IMG]

    made my repair panel
    [IMG]

and welded that bad boy in
    [IMG]

cleaned it up but just needs a little more dressing
    [IMG]

With a coat of primer so this nice moist weather dont infect again
    [IMG]

Just bought a die grinder to get into those hard to reach places and should be good as new, which is nice. So nice to do something that actually like I've done something lol but slowly getting there.

  13. so got the other side of the engine bay done today, was a bit of a pain as some German bloke decided to put some wires there but managed it.

I have also removed the air filter mount as i wont ever be returning it stock and it just tidies it up a bit.

Quite lucky really as I converted my van to a pop top about 3 years ago and am using the section roof I cut out for repair panels.

welded in and primered up, both sides just need a little fettle and a rub down with the rest of the engine bay and its ready for paint in there,
    [IMG]

Going to finish off shot blasting the underside tomorrow hopefully so I can get that bad boy primered and stone chipped...............yay!

  14. Great to see you back on it dude

  15. in the words of Gordon Ramsay.................shot blasting done!!!!!!! :D :D

Bit of a tidy up and will hopefully have the bottom primered by end of the week #neverthoughtiwouldgetthere!

  16. so had intended on cleaning the garage today ready to prime the bottom of my van but after discovering a lot more rot in the rear valance than I had originally thought I decided to get this done instead. I was planning on doing this once the van was back on its wheels as it is a little awkward with the frame its attached to but glad i'm doing it now tbh.

So this is what was found.

Cut the rot out of the rear panel
    [IMG]

    was left with this
    [IMG]

Then cut the rot out of the inner panel, got it out in one piece.

so I used this as a template
    [IMG]

    and made this

First test fit, needed a little tweaking but fits well.

So quite pleased with the afternoon efforts, this has been the most intricate panel I've ever made and enjoyed the challenge of it too!
