Very nicely made, but what did you make it from? I see it had matching paint on it... Something thick I hope, the inner valance is chassis thickness...

  2. is it?? i've kept the roof section I cut to convert it to pop top a few years back and i'm reusing that, ive just popped in therre now and checked and the original inner valence not chassis thickness its just pressed steal and the metal going in is the same thickness. Or am I missing something

  3. Right I have just measure again with some digital calipers from work and you are correct it is thicker material but not chassis thickness. It measure to 16 gauge and I've used 18 gauge so its 0.3mm thinner.

My personal thoughts are that even though its not quite the right thickness its still better than the rotten piece I have cut out and easily strong enough for the job as its just a patch but there again I've not cut any corners yet so am undecided what to do!

Like you say it's going to be a whole lot better than rusty holes whatever you use! The amount of buses I've seen which patches glued on with seam sealer here, then painted with underseal...

  5. Just been out shopping and have been thinking it and all the buses and cars out there that have been dipped, if they have a fair amount of rust on there and then its cleaned off it the same. Think Im going to go for it and see how it go's, thanks for keeping an eye on my silly mistakes tho :)

  6. nice to see its still moving along daisy. i cant wait to the day when i can finally lay some primer on mine but i know its a long way off as yet

  7. Cheers dude. got the rear valence welded in yesterday so am booking a skip tomos to clear the shop out and am hoping to shoot some primer before the end of the week! #excited!!!

  8. Been an exciting day today, got a skip in so I could clear out all the blast media and sh*t that had collected out of my garage and it nice to have it clean again.

TBH I did get what I would call a slight run!
But just took a bit to get the gun set right and can rub that back but I am chuffed to say the least!

  9. Looks pretty good to me. A few runs on the underside won't matter too much.

  10. OOOOO i've just got some paint!! ;D

  14. I'm liking that colour .....looks familiar  ^-^

  15. Good old savanna beige :) her old man thinks I'm mad painting the bottom! I'd say it pretty normal!

Ha ha........50 shades of primer, now. That my sort of filth!

  16. Have cracked on today and got the bottom fully primed and seam sealed (bit messy).

Then while the sealer was drying have started on one of the doors. Didn't think the bottom was bad until I looked a bit closer

    Cut out the rot
    [IMG]

and set about making a new panel, the double 90 bends are a nightmare to do but hand but with the aid of a chisel and stainless bar I managed it
    [IMG]

    Then bent it into shape
    [IMG]

Now tacked in to be welded tomos i'm well pleased, not stock but a blind man would be pleased to see it!

Good job on the door. :)

  18. Cheers, I wish I was as good on the metal work when I started as I am now lol.

Hopefully I will be getting the bottom stone chipped and painted this weekend and will be putting the suspension back on and back on wheels. When I put the front beam on whats the best what of sealing between the beam end plates and the chassis rails as its a right water trap, I was just going to blather both faces in waxoil but not sure if there is a better option?

  19. Nice work on the bottom of the door.

  20. Cheers Zebedee, sorry for the bombardment of pics and updates, but getting paint on her is a major step and has got me all excited again.

I got the bottom stone chipped today and got high as a kite doing it!
Real placed with the way it is going though!

Just needs a bit of beating and a clean up but pleased with it, will look better once filled and rubbed back ready for paint.

Got another bit on this door to do and the other door is the same.

Hoping to get the bottom painted tomos or monday and then get her back on her wheels ^-^
