I don’t think what you say chimes with my experience of TLB. Corbyn has come in for plenty of stick on here.

  2. I’ve given him plenty and Diane Abbott.

  4. Freedom of speech actually means a lot to me, as Voltaire (I think) said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". A sentiment that should be applied more widely by all of us! Especially in these times where a government has taken away our liberty for a disease that has a mortality rate no greater than what we have experienced in recent years. If you don't believe me look up Ivor Cummings (no relation) and make up your own mind! I don't think I said people couldn't say anything about Cummings, the point I was making was for people to apply their criticism in equal measure across the political spectrum and not just reserve their opprobrium for the current government. If this and my previous post are viewed as "strange" then perhaps I am in the wrong forum.

Look at what you could have won.....it’s irrelevant stating it could have been worse because Corbyn et al never happened. It’s the imaginary. Don’t be distracted.

History will not be kind to this sitting government or their ‘advisors’....the ones whose actual experience is fine art degrees or similar as they laid waste to any diplomacy in pretty much any arena.

Cummings has shown very little other than utter contempt to the people that pay his wage and he’s been found out.

He was filmed sneaking out of 10 Downing Street right after Boris got Covid...why be filmed carrying a box of possessions (did he even have an office in number 10) out if the front door today? Self promoting narcissistic pillock. A Lidl Genius at best.

He’s been thrown under a bus cushioned by 10’s of millions of pounds of our money, our children’s money, and their children’s money.

I sincerely hope he and all the others that have ripped off the British public are brought to trial for fraud in the near future.

For all of you daft enough to stay loyal to the people that have cast you off in a small dinghy with a days water on these oceans. More fool you.

Btw, my stand out moment. Watch this fat, red faced p***k threaten a decorated war veteran with Cummings.

It’s like being threatened on the school yard with someone’s older brother that ‘knows Karate’.

  6. I think you have misread your standout moment. Mark François as a former serving officer was pleading for the CDS to get a grip on defence procurement. Defence procurement has been an unmitigated disaster for as long as anyone can remember. Nimrod AEW, Astute, Typhoon and the latest Boxer (10y late and massively over budget) are all examples of wasted tax payers money. I think his heartfelt plea was for the military to sort out its own house before someone did it for them. I think the look on the CDS's face shows he knew that this wasn't a threat merely a plea to do it right.

All government procurement is a mess, always has been, and it’s in no ones interest to fix it.

I believe if Mark Francis was sincere about his wishes then he’d be working furiously behind the scenes rather than grandstanding as per clip....,in what capacity was he making his ‘helpful advice’, in what aspect of his political duty?

Was it as a member of the defence committee? Is their job merely to poke at military spending whilst bowing to their own political allies and hamstringing our military?

Wasn’t Nimrod a result of parliamentary pressure to maintain British jobs?

My understanding of his military career was that he was a part time reservist 30 years ago...that trumps my experience, fair play to him.

  10. If you value freedom of speech I assume you disagree with the IHRA working definition of Antisemitism which Gavin Williamson is currently forcing UK Universities to adopt, by threatening to withdraw funding if they don't comply? What many people fail to see is the bigger picture. Creeping Kleptocracy. Cummings is a part of the agenda. His dismissal was staged; any fool can see that.

  14. Cummings was held in contempt of Parliament for failing to give evidence at a formal hearing back in 2018, concerning fake news and Russian interference in the referendum. The story soon faded. When summoned to attend, Cummings stated that he would be willing to give evidence under oath, provided all in attendance were also under oath. He knew what he was doing. Rather than expose the sh*t show of corruption, the committee agreed that it was in everyone's best interest to hold him in contempt, but take no formal action against him....a nice tidy solution. I guess that whatever Kompromat he has is no longer that threatening or those who were compromised have already left the building, or he's found a better paymaster

do some background on Conservative Friends of Russia. It's a murky world. Still no Russian Report

  16. What I find most interesting in all the political threads is how people judge politicians as they would ordinary members of the public. They are not normal, they exist in a world where they spend their lives scheming, lying, swindling and back stabbing to further their own interests everyday. It’s not normal behaviour, they aren’t normal people. We simply don’t act like this in our daily lives. Why are you all so surprised that in a poisonous environment there’s poisonous people. Do you honestly think that any of them, from any party if push comes to shove, would really care about your life more than their own career? Not for one second. Blair and his cronies cooked up fake evidence that lead to the deaths of nearly 100,000 innocent people, unstabilised an entire region for twenty years and allowed a power vacuum which lead to the rise of ISIS, instead of crawling under a rock he set himself up as a Middle East peace advisor. You couldn’t make it up.

  18. The trouble with TLB is that nobody dares to sit on the fence any more for fear that @snotty will hit them with an EMPI carburettor or gear shifter...

  19. In all seriousness @mgbman, please continue to post on here. I think politics has become very nasty and divisive. Plenty to criticise Cummings for and plenty to criticise Corbyn for. Also a lot of over-hyped outrage on both sides. I'm glad to see that Cummings is going because he made some bad calls. I'm also glad Corbyn was suspended as he spoke up stupidly. What gets me down in our modern world is so many people taking offence all the time and posting angry rants (and I don't mean you - yours was heartfelt and measured). I'm not a tory supporter, nor am I a lefty. And there's nothing wrong with people voicing their thoughts and opinions. Let's just try to remember that this is a broad church and we all have to live together on this "septic Isle" as Del Boy once called it.

I work for a company full of rules about bribing government officials by giving them more than fruit juice, that also welcomes senior figures from its customer base onto its highly paid management team with pride. Go figure.
