  4. News says he planned to go before xmas all along. What I don’t get is that he stuck it out when the Barnard Castle Marmite hit the fan but goes just three months later...... waste of skin!

It’s given him time to feather his nest with dodgy contracts to his mates / shares in exchange. He will be good to go!

He did in fact always say he'd off at Christmas. Fake news.

  8. People like him tend to have a limited time in most organisations and they know it. They're bought in to make big changes and are generally hated as a result.
The very few I've met were ferociously intelligent but had very limited if any people skills.

  14. It appears to me that the level of vitriol dished out is greater and more personal if the individual is viewed to be right wing or right of centre. I don't recall that the same level of vitriol was dished out when the Labour party and it's former leader were adjudged by the EHRC to be guilty of anti-Semitism! So it would have been acceptable to have had a Prime Minister who was a personal friend to the IRA and Hamas and who would have been responsible for the flight of Jewish people from the UK. Or maybe he would have just wanted them to wear a yellow star or the 2020 version of that - yellow mobile phone case perhaps? I have no problem with people slating politicians for poor performance, morals or ethics, but at least do it equally. The level of one-eyed partisanship on here is somewhat jarring when you consider that TLB is supposedly for laid back petrol heads! It will be interesting to see what responses I get to this post, if they turn out to be as vitriolic as those seen on TLB elsewhere
, then I fear this will be my last post, as life is too short!

Does ‘freedom of speech’ mean anything to you ?

Over the years many good people (including some of my friends & relatives) have laid down their lives for freedom of speech and it’s enshrined in UK law under the Human Rights Act.

I don’t do political or religious comment on public forums - full stop - but I will defend anyones right to speak politely and not be censored.

    Au revoir ?

  19. you get used to it after a while. I have very little in common with most on here politically, in fact with some I’m miles apart, but is that such a bad thing? The political threads on here have got a little heated at times, especially around brexit and the general election but that’s free speech for you. It would be a shame for you to leave the forum because of it, we may not agree on a lot of things politically but everyone on here knows that if they needed to knock on my door for help one day they’d be welcomed with open arms, especially if they have chocolate hob nobs. Ive had arguments on here over politics and then the next day I’m helping the very same person with a boiler question. I think it would be rare to find any genuine ill feeling between people on here, at least I’d hope not.

    Up the tories. :)
