  4. Cheers for the ideas, glad to know that putting them in the bus is quite common. I parially installed my heater today, nearly cried drilling holes through my floor! All tested and working from a diesel filler tank with the fuel pipe dunked in. I'll sort the wiring and install my permanet tank another day. Any tips on reducing the ticking of the pump? I read somewhere about hanging it from zip ties so it's not bolted to the chassis.

  5. If you re circulate the air inside it will warm up quicker but you'll end up with a van full of condensation. Cold air holds less moisture than hot air so drawing cold air from outside (even if its raining) and heating it up causes the relative humidity to drop.

Try driving any car with the heater on and set to re circulate on a cold day and it'll soon have windows pouring with condensation (unless climate control is involved and it'll probably use the air con to dry the air)

Theses apparently make them quieter but i don't have one.
    I quite like the tick.

  8. I'd get a couple of rubber blocks like the old minis used on the exhaust, put a piece of flat bar across and then mount the pump on that. That'll give you the rubber mount on the pump itself and another rubber to dampen the clicking noise.

  9. Yeah, because you have cut off the ventilation into the vehicle.

  12. I mounted my pump on 4 rubber bobbin pins in a truck electrical junction box wrapped in buddle wrap.

I'm a light sleeper and it works rather well

I've fitted one of these, not worth the bother really :( I 've also tried mounting the pump on a rubber 'mini cotton reel' type exhaust mounting, no quieter!.
It's mounted with zip ties at the mo in that 'pink thingy' under the van, i can still hear the pump ticking clearly if there is no other noise.
It's like the croc that haunts Capt Hook on Peter Pan. :burp:

Are you on the Chinese diesel heater page on Fb?
A guy on there said something about mounting it inside a small plant pot suspended in silicone.
    He reckoned it worked.

Hiya, i was on several heater sites on fb, had to leave them though, too many fb 'experts' if you know what i mean.
Completely 'potted' in a pot with silicone, i'm not sure i want to go to that length. I wonder if silent pumps are out there?.

  16. No because of the way they work with a shuttle piston banging up and down. Only a motor or stepper motor geared pump would be quieter.

  17. Yeah I know, they fit a heater and become an expert. A lot of the problems are caused by those Aussie John McK videos which started so many myths about fitting them.

  18. I’ve just starting watching him, do you not rate him?

  19. I took a few pics for a mate of my install so thought I would share.

I didn't conform to a few parts ie the 45° pum orientation bit never had a issue.

Also the exhaust looks low but it's not it's just the angle of the photo.

Been in about 8 months now and used multiple times all night long no issues.

  20. Largely the how to it parts are fairly accurate (apart from the all in one heater exhaust fitting) but adds fictitious theories why you have to do it which people pick up on and use as any related fault. The worst was saying the use of Kerosene damages the pump, if he had done any research he would have found the pumps are the same as used in the petrol heaters, and Eber/Webasto/Planar state they can run on Kero, now if anybody mentions running on Kerosene we get a tirade of people telling us the pump will fail without lubrication.
