Chinese Night heater 2Kw

  1. Yes I think you are right Leon , I had read somewhere though that they clog up if not run on the hotter side , I guess time will tell , worst case I get another one , but a 2kw instead at least it will be a simple swap over if it comes to that . Not sure if anyone else has seen it but there is a very good YouTube video on how to use the digital controller , the instructions that came with mine were not very good , the video goes in depth about the different settings , I will try to find it and post the link

As far as the the pickup tube goes, I bought a few of these (they were only a few USD a few months ago, not sure why they doubled in price), I bought a few extras for spares down the road.

  5. No issues at all. The nut is close enough to the opening that you can fit your fingers in there and hold it. Turn the tank upside down, then just just insert the standpipe through the tank and nut. I have a 10mm wrench bent at a 90° angle that I used to snug it down. You can also use a normal open end wrench and while working with the tank upside down let the inside of the tank hold the wrench still. Hope that makes sense.

  7. Looks like the oldest version with the analog control. The small 2kW is the one we need though, like hens teeth at the moment.

  8. Smaller 2kw have a 60mm outlets. Versus 75mm for the 2-5kw.
I should have watched the video first!

  9. Has anyone installed a true 5kw heater in their van? Is it overkill or can you run it at 50%? Aware they like to run at 100% to stop it clogging up. 2kw still hard to find but I like the LCD panel with remote, will come in handy.

  10. I put in a 5kw with LCD panel (although it was labelled as 2kw) its working fine but I haven't got the chance to go camping with it :(. I fed it in through the original heating ducting so probably losing a bit of heat there. I don't think I'll be leaving it on at any stage, just a blast to take the edge off.:)

  11. You can buy the lcd and remote separately. Expect it will be same board in the heater, but ask about.

I've fitted exactly the same but with air just blowing into van. I find the lowest setting isn't low enough to have it ticking over all night, but on the other hand i wouldn't want it running all night. Plus you can set it to turn on and off twice if you want to. I find the 5kw output handy as my hot air output vent can point towards the open sliding door straight into the drive away awning. Very pleased with mine, i run it on paraffin with a drop of Nanothene in.

You can adjust the fan speed and I think the fuel rate, or something similar so that it doesn't blow at full pelt all the time. I find mine blows full pelt for about 20 minutes and then goes into ticking over mode and then will kick back in if necessary.

  15. No need to add anything. Kerosene (Paraffin) is cleaner burning than Diesel and doesn't affect the pump as they are the same as the petrol versions.

I'll check, mine said it was a 5kw but I know some aren't

  18. I normally put a small lump of Plutonium in mine. Keeps the van toasty warm

I add Nanothene because i kept reading about the reduced amounts of lubricant in Diesel (sulphur) and apparently paraffin is not as good a lubricant as diesel anyway, plus the Nanothene is supposed to give an even cleaner burn. As far as i know the pump needs lubricating but i'm no expert on these matters.
