Catching the virus

  1. Weve managed to get one delivery slot since lockdown started and that was Morrison’s. Was very friendly and professional except trying to substitute some ‘value’ (but decent) for some ‘finest’ (meaning overpriced) packs of sausages lol.

    First world problems :)

  2. Gave up trying to get a Tesco delivery slot, there just aren't any available ever. One of our neighbours got a slot when lockdown first started. It was for 1st of May.

We've barely been out, I brimmed both our cars on March the 16th and both are still over 3/4 full, I put a tenner in my Triumph and that's it. It's a small village where we live and most people are just staying in and keeping their heads down. The problem I'm beginning to have is that it just doesn't feel real, it's like something that's happening elsewhere and we're immune to it!

I often feel a bit like Steve, let's just get it and be done with the bloody thing. Just a small dose from a shop door handle, but then I read on places like here from people that have had it and quickly change my mind!

I'm pretty convinced though that 100's of thousands of people have had it or still got it in England though. The number of footballers that have been tested is huge given the small population sample and they're all asymptomatic, multiply that up and it's a large chunk of the population.

I'm still not sure if I had it in February, I had 3 days in bed wiped out with a fever and a cough that didn't stop, even when throwing up with it. At the same time 2 of my friends that I had been rehearsing with had the same thing as did my neighbours??

  6. If you are asymptomatic you don't have symptoms do you, come on now. ;)

  7. It's so hard out there....I have not been to a super market since all this began....no sorry the wife ran out of carrots for her rabbits and bought organic ones from booths..jesus
But then I know a butcher who I can get meat off...I get my veg..normally locally..
I have a friend that's a baker and my milk gets delivered when I want it..
You don't have to relie on a f###### supermarket to get your deliveries...

  9. I know what the word means thanks, I think you are missing my point, the tests are there for everyone who thinks they have it. But as you’ve brought it back up let’s do the math shall we? So there’s 66.65 million people in the uk, at full capacity they can test max 200,000 a day so we need everyone to stay at home for roughly 333 days to get everyone tested, good luck with that

There's clearly humongous pressure to be seen doing something here which can muddy the waters.

  11. Seens a lot of the TLB community are older, empty-nesters living in rural/remote locations which makes it less likely to have been exposed in the initial surge in urban and city infections?

Get the antibody test prioritised and then at least anyone that wants to revise their risk assessment will be able to. I know it's not a guarantee of immunity, but it would be enough for me and my family to take a more informed viewpoint.

Agreed, @Fruitcake put it well, it seems unreal from an isolated more or less gated community here.

  13. Just drove up Maryport highstreet and its like black friday or boxing day sales at 9 in the morning. All the parking on the highstreet is full and theres dozens of people walking around. Its not as if theres many shops open either. o_O

I would sooner be tied to a post and be hit by M.Tyson ( once mind ) than go to Ikea even on a quiet day .

I’ve found that I don’t miss going shopping at all. Ikea is at the top of the places that I don’t miss.

I'd rather everyone went to Ikea than clogg up the countryside. There's been far too many plebs around lately. :)

  18. I dont want anyone I know to get it, either in real life or on the interwebs. Let’s not forget that not so long ago one of the members on here lost a very close family member. It’s not quite Russian roulette if you get it, but its not far off. If it takes a few more weeks of boredom to keep people safe, I wish that was the option people took.

What has absolutely staggered me have been the protests around the death of that poor black guy in the USA. For whatever reason this disease seems to have disproportionately affected black and ethnic minorities more, so if I was from that group the last thing id be doing is standing shoulder to shoulder with a load of complete strangers in Trafalgar Square and then risking taking covid back home to my family. Have they not considered the irony that the death of that one poor man in such a shameful way could lead to the deaths of countless others due to them ignoring the lockdown rules. I wish they could have waited a few weeks before organising a protest.

I heard about that on the news. having now watched it, it is horrendous.

I am glad she got sacked, I am disappointed she wasn't charged with wasting police time and fined!!!! or both.
