As mentioned, stats can be used to ‘prove’ whatever you want. 1. you are four times more likely to die in custody if you are white 2. deaths in custody of black people are disproportionately higher than the % of population 3. You are % wise more likely to die in custody if you are white
I’d imagine in a lot of parts of London as a black teenager you are a lot more likely to die from being stabbed by another black teenager than you are dying at the hands of the police. I don’t recall any black lives matter protests when they are all murdering each other. like you say. Statistics can prove anything
the problem is that you are using stats that people publish to prove their own agenda (as my point above) for another point of view, why are we comparing % deaths in custody with % population? They are unrelated. The relationship between deaths in custody and the race of those in custody is the only one that should be used (in my opinion). A whole other argument is the number of black people arrested against population %. This is an issue that is very rightly being highlighted.
From the same article, it appears that you are nearly 11 times more likely, white vs black. All of the above are posted purely to show the irrelevance / bias of many stats that we see on a daily basis btw
I feel sorry for the police. They can’t win. Over the last few years the number of gun and knife crimes in London has reached epidemic proportions. Remember last year where we seemed to have a murder almost daily. At one point London had more murders than New York. Evidence shows that it’s mostly young black males who are victims but also young black males who are mostly carrying knives. so on the one hand the police are accused of not doing enough to stop knife, gun, gang crimes and on the other hand they are told they are racist when they stop and search people. Stop and search needs to be intelligence lead. It’s highly unlikely that an old lady out with her shopping trolley is packing a 9mm. So it’s highly unlikely she’s gonna get searched is it. it’s a vicious circle. A community that doesn’t trust the police and won’t engage with the police are exactly the people who need the police to remove these awful people from their communities so that the decent kids can go to school, go to the shops, go to the youth club without the fear of being a victim of gang crime.
I waa just told of a VE Day party where many people caught COVID19.. and a pet cat almost died from it too.. Out at the garden centre and the farm shop today, I almost was the only person wearing a mask.
I had the misfortune to have to go to Tescos today.... fecking heaving, bugger all social distancing, probably only 2 other people wearing a face mask. |It was like Covid had never happened! I binned it off and went to Sainsburys, which was a much more acceptable shopping experience.
Just as well forget the furlough ,social distancing , masks etc make them all go back to work Fcuk it
