I would know more about Accuspark failures if I could complete my scratching the potting compound off one of my Accuspark units. But this 7kg cat, also known as Freddie Mercury stole it. Top picture is my daughter's doodle. Mostly accurate. Bottom one was me.
Maybe a member has a knackered one they could send you to dissect That’s a knackered accuspark/power spark not a knackered cat.
I think the cat is broken. He weighs 7kg and has a squeak instead of a miaow. I do now have another Accuspark after this weekend. Another one to try. This was state of play before cat theiving. . Q1 is the black wire switch 1,2,3 are a hall effect magnet sensor which got dremeled out of existence.. Resistors are all thick film on a ceramic substrate.
Good work Mike, from your sketch it looks like most of the gubbins is protected by the two zeners, so would the failure be due to exceeding the voltage ratings of the switch transistor on the negative swing of the coil primary or maybe just too much power being dissipated by Q1. Which part has actually failed?
