I think perhaps there is old pertronix and newer pertronix, my 20+ year old one still works.

 

I don't reckon that's too bad value for money, for a Southerner

 

My bus arrived from California (before I bought it) years back and this had a Pertronix - it was substituted recently for points during a swapping session to find a fault. It still works fine, so I have it waiting if I get fed up of my points.

 

I've had mine and the flamethrower coil since the late 90's. It's only just become my spare.

i also think this, the pertronix i installed in 2010 was still perfect in 2017 when i pulled the engine, newer ones seem to be not as good somehow

 

Agreed, I bought mine in 2010 too, £65 from VW Heritage, still going strong.
