Brexit outcomes so far.

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Dicky, Jun 27, 2016.

  1. It suits China to have a weak currency for exporting cheap goods, but we don't export cheap goods, we import cheap goods and export high end goods.

  2. If you live to your means it wont affect you too much.

  3. Urr actually you can directly blame speculators seeing as the City predicted the outcome of the referendum wrong so the adverse market conditions are largely a result of traders trying to get out of their positions having bet on the wrong horse!

  4. Fast forward a few years when we're, potentially, a strong self governed nation, the 5th largest economy in the world, low unemployment, inflation and interest rates - would we want to join?

Dont blame those who voted out blame those who didn,t vote at all

The true numbers of the Scots were that for remain was only 40% of those who could've voted .nearly 2 million Scots didn,t voted the figures are very similar with the young

  10. In theory, but in practice that's not the case. We don't compete on price. Whenever our currency has devalued, we haven't seen a significant rise in exports.

  11. Agreed, it's a temporary boost at best, until the increased materials costs kick in.

consider EFTA (Iceland ,Liechtenstein norway and switzerland ) at the moment they are hung out to dry by the EU but consider if we join .now sweden and denmark are deep in thought if the left and joined EFTA EFTAs clout starts to grow .thats one of the reasons why the EU are worried

  17. I thought you were fantastic, Ron. Gave it to them both barrels.

Now the Germans are going to play hard ball so am I, can I have some sensible suggestions on cars to buy, I dont want one that gives any of my money to them so that's BMW, Audi, VW out then.

  18. I will admit to knowing little in the scheme of things but your comments demostrate you dont either. I think others have answered some of your points. I didnt think we were moving towards a low skilled low wage race to the bottom economy. Im also not entirely sure who briefed that we would move towards a manufacturing base and away from commerce although i do think thats a smart move. Will have alook to see what Mervs got to say. Apologies for ranting. Its more intended as a discusion but theres no getting away from the fact that i believe the wrong decision was made and on balance it makes us worse off, and that is today, not several years down the line so its real and not anticipated.

Personally I would like to think that in 2 years time we would still be in the EU ( and not the way Out) but who am I to know I, even voted for the monster raving loony party in the past ( they were the first to advocate reducing the voting age from 21 to 18 ) :D

  20. Go for cars that are made in UK - Vauxhall Astra ( GM owned), Nissan quasquai, Honda Civic, Toyota Avensis, Any Ford with an engine built in UK ( not a Transit though as that has just gone to Eastern Europe (thanks to EU subsidy), Any Range/Land Rover (Evoque), Any Jag , etc., etc., Bentley and Rolls are German owned so stay away
