Anyone near Alfreton know a motor factors that stocks our stuff?

  1. Wired into to coil +ve ?

    :hattip:

  2. It fired with a spare coil and spare dizzy but was popping and banging, being alone I put my timed dizzy back in, it barely caught, pop pop, and then nothing even when I kept cranking.

  3. No we were working thru the dizzy, RAC chap said he got a spark off the king lead when he touched it against block.

  4. Hotwire made no difference.

Should the points be insulated at all?

Initially you thought fuel because it fired. And it pops and bangs occaisionally. Are you sure it's not fuel related?

  7. I took fuel lines off got squirted on and my meter shows pressure. Anyway we can't get a spark, so fuel won't help.

  8. Took the dizzy off and put the continuity meter on the body then turned spindle , as we turned the shaft the meter beeped when the points were made and not when they were break.

  11. We can see that now, yes, and when they are open (break) they don't have continuity :)

  12. Connect one end of the meter to the green wire , earth the other to the body and turn the dizzy .

Should have the same results as above meaning its not earthing out and doing what it should ..

  13. Lost the light now and I need to eat, only had a bowl of cereal all day. I'll try that tomorrow, thanks.

  14. @MorkC68 had been an absolute star. I owe him a few beers when times are better

  15. Is the rotor arm turning when you turn the crank pulley ?

  16. Yes, oh how I wish wish it would be as simple as that.

  17. @MorkC68 and I put points and condenser in, checked points working with dizzy off bus, tried hotwiring, checked voltages, checked continuity in all the usual places, did loads of other stuff but couldn't get a spark, no blummmin way. It's most likely something simple, but I just can't see it, and I am too tired and cold now.

  18. lol, just a thought.
What about the little earth wire from the base plate to the distributor body ? is that intact ?

If it's broken^ put the module back in, the module doesn't need it.

  20. Got a photo of the wire? Points have a wire to condenser, we had that connected.
