I used another outer, cut the lip down to half and spent quite a while ensuring it was in the right place.
I thought everyone does this? I used to fit the outer, then get inside the tub to repair the inner, but this is a far better way if you have the confidence to get it positioned right. I over size the cut then tack on with a couple of tacks, try the outer, then adjust and try again. TBH it didn't take too long to get it right.
That's the way i do it, fit the outer, then make up a section for the straight part of the housing, then parts for the end. I thought about using two outers, but the only thing that puts me off is that the steel quality isn't great. By repairing in sections you can use better steel, but that way looks neater for sure.
The two layers end up very close and I've found it difficult to adequately inject cavity wax after, so the less welds the better. I stuck the outer on with sikoflex - a fat bead where the foam was and all round the perimeter, then welded the outer part panel join the next day.
Got the engine onto a stand and started stripping. Also started the machining of the wheel centre caps.
Bare pics of the heads please tbr Appologies if my request seems rude but its for a reason Pics of inlet, exhaust and combustion chamber please
Finally got the halves apart having played hunt the secret bolt, a game that must have been devised by a direct descendant of Goerring himself. Is this normal? Looks like everything in here is stock.
Why do your pics show a few mins after you have posted? Is that bronze colour a trick of the light or the actual colour?
