  12. Got a bit more done today. Took most of the day to remove three layers of paint from the side panel! Started with paint stripper which didn't do much even though I covered it in clingfilm to prevent it dring out in the heat. Then ended up using a stripping disc.

This side panel has had a few knocks from inside & out over the years so I've got a bit of a job on to get it straight without using too much filler. I have an area of 'oil canning' (where the panel pops in & out when you push on it) that I am going to have a go at shrinking. I don't know wether to use the blow torch & wet rag method or get one of those shrinking discs for the angle grinder. The discs are available on ebay but only from the states.

Have any of you guy's had to shrink a panel, if so what method did you use?

  16. Like kruger i would be inclined to use heat to shrink it
However ive never seen a shrinking disc for the grinder do you have a link to them?

  17. Thanks for the replys guys. I agree with you that heat is the way to go as I am dealing with a large area rather than small dents. A shrinking disc is a stainless steel wheel that fits in the angle grinder and produces small areas of heat through friction, which seems to be ideal for small dents. See the video below:

they can be purchased on ebay from the states

Will post up my progress next week.

  18. Look forward to seeing how you tackle the panel beating/shrinking, i've looked at those shrinking disks, and my only concern is that the panels on a bus seem alot thinner than the panel in that clip, and i'd always worry about rubbing through the steel.

Great work as always though mate.
