A little more progress today. Gave the corner a mist coating of etch primer and filled & prepped the rear valance.
Been doing a little fettling & etch priming. Also decided what to do about my ill fitting nearside front door. It's ill fitting for two reasons: 1. The a post seems to be too far forward at the bottom, so the door gap increases at the bottom. When I look back at old photos, it was always like that and i'm now sorry I didn't tackle this when I had the chance ie when the arches, cab floor and front chassis member were removed. 2. I welded the wheel arch on too high as I was trying to minimise the gap between the front of the arch and the door bottom. So to sort out the door gap after hanging the door in the best position, I have welded a 4mm rod of steel to the edge of the front panel which I have tapered down to nothing about half way up the front panel. Then fettled & filled. Regarding the arch I did contemplate grinding it off and buying another one but decided against it when I saw the price they are fetching now! £200! So I will just have to put up with it. As long as the door opens & closes ok it will have to do. Some pic's from the last few days. Just got the remainder of the front panel to bare metal and etch prime before priming with Custom Epoxy 421. It's going to be an ideal day to get it done tomorrow, but I have been called into work
Spent every bit of spare time over the last few weeks rubbing down & prepping the front cab area. Shot some epoxy primer on this evening .
That's looking like new. A quick question, what are you using to wipe down the panels before coating?
Hey Busman i was just thinking whats happened to you.. good to see your back on it.. nearly ready for the top coat...
