why do lorry drivers think they have the right to block lanes?

every morning on my drive to work along the a5 at the section by "the terrace" in brownhills there's a section where after about 1/2 mile 2 lanes merge to 1, now you do get the odd selfish tool who piles down the outside and indicates last minute and dives in but more often than not a hgv decides to straddle both lanes all the way to stop people doing it this then causes the traffic to back up behind as he tootles along smirking (no doubt) not much winds me up driving but this does.... i'd happily book them if i was a copper.

The lorry drivers doing that annoys you more that selfish tools who cant be bothered to queue?

they drive over the white lines on country lanes too , why dont they buy thinner lorrys !! after all they dont make wideeer trains innit .

 

This happens in Henlade on the way to the M5. It happened the other morning and at the merge the said lorry stormed past the stationary traffic on the inside lane and pushed in, I was apoplectic with rage.
Probably the time I most wished I was still an officer of the law. Highway code says queue in both lanes and merge in turn. I'm with you Rick, makes my blood boil..........and breathe.

 

in defence of lorries i'm sure they see some idiots (in the mirror mainly) but it does get me narked - i'm sure we all hate the white van/bmw that dives in last minute - but driving straddling 2 lanes for 1/2 a mile? not on.

 

i'm not that sad.... i was pointing out that the so called "kings of the road" aren't all proffesional drivers - as paul says up there ^ you queue in both lanes - the lorry driver isn't the law.

 

possibly but on the stretch of road i use i don't see the milkman/postman doing it in a fiat doblo....

 

we get stacks of um darn ear .

 

The cones filter the traffic down to one lane, what does it matter if you filter at the cones or 100 yards back, if people just let one car in from each lane alternately it makes no odds!

 

My pet hate are the motorists who consider themselves special and don't need to queue when a road changes from 2 to 1 lane. .I try and block their progress in whatever vehicle I am in...even my tiny C2 !
Good on the lorry drivers. .now the rolling road blocks at 59 on the motorway are another matter !

 

Maybe he just does it cos he's a dick and likes winding up others!
