Good luck with that... 1 if you could do it, you'd need a nut die and a longer nut 2 longer nut would then block the pickup pipe = fail But points for trying
Drill hole in the middle 5mm, knock in some 5mm bar with it sticking out 1/2 an inch, run a weld round it, get an m8 stud, drill a 5mm hole in that, slide it over the other 5mm sticking out bit and weld the together, job done there's a method to get round this issue, I will try and find it
If I'm cack handed enough to shear an 8mm stud what's the chance of me drilling a hole down the middle of it do we think ;-). Still maybe worth a go ... What's the worst that can happen...
You have to strip it if you don't try a bodge, i was serious with the araldite post.... you've all obviously never had an old landy. you don't need the strainer off ever, chemical metal the plate on and forget it.
Now that could be an option and do the same to the nut with the snapped bar in it back in the middle.... Captain bodge to the rescue... Or maybe I'll do it properly.. Guilt is a terrible thing...
a bodge is most satisfying though, everyone can do it properly - there's books to tell you how, thinking of a cheat is more fun, don't you think?
