  2. I found the floor in my garage today for the first time in a couple of years. Now if I could just fit the new doors which came with my bus, I'd have even more space!

  4. Not been on the fish, had to do some fettling on the golf today... tweak the tracking as it was toe out slightly, wired in the new air horn, and mocked up my new alternator system...

Moving over to multi rib as opposed to the std V belt, as I've been suffering from bad belt slip when there is loading on the alt, or cold start slip... been doing my nut in for months, and I finally managed to go and see a buddy of mine up north and collect some parts he'd put to one side for me

  6. had a great weekend /night in molly.... met some lovely new tlb members and enjoyed the little show... had a few admirers of mol stop for a chat... had a decent drive home too :) singing away

  7. Got my new electric washer bottle working, as well as sorting out the wiring to the radio so it runs off the leisure battery. Also swapped the G4 bulbs in my downlighters for LED equivalents that I bought off eBay - now the internal van lighting uses 12% of the power it used to. Should help me to avoid draining the leisure battery.

Drove the bus to the DIY store to buy a kitchen sink tap.
Then drove the bus to the DIY store to buy the parts I didnt get the first time.

Touched up a lot of little chips in the front bumper paint caused by grit on the roads...

Put about half a litre (a lot) of oil in the gearbox..

(When we got the bus, the original gearbox did not leak oil so I never bothered to fill it up as every time I checked it it was still full. Replacement recon gearbox has the right number of gears but leaks oil.)

Replaced a rocker cover gasket (not cork/rubber) which had "shrunk". I had left it in rather than replaced it last time , because it looked good last time I checked it .

Today I compared it with a new cork/rubber one and it was about 5mm smaller as well as almost being squeezed out of the gap at the bottom . It had gone so far in there were notches in it where the pushrods had rubbed on it ..

Tightened the oil drain plate bolts as they were seeping oil when the engine was hot.

Yeah Ste , but it will be filled with a block of the same wood - 100 year old pine - tomorrow , i will glue it in and let it go off before shaping around it , i used to do this for a hobby years ago not sure if i still have the patience or skill -but i am going to give it a go :)

  12. Malc a tip for the future is to carve greenwood as it carves so much easier than seasoned wood
Just make sure you seal it in an airtight bag and store it in a cool place after working on it otherwise it will crack before its finished

I hand carve wooden bowls from time to time and use an old method to dig into the bowl itself
I take an ember from the fire and drop it on to the wood then gently blow on it from time to time
This starts charring the wood out making it less effort to remove the material from the bowl
I finish it all of with a crook knife at the end

Its quite a nice primitive experiance starting with a block of wood sat next to the campfire and many evenings later you have a usefull and decorative item

  15. Fitted the sun visor, wheel centre caps, 240V hook up socket, electric washer pump and dash switch and finally sussed out where I'm gonna put the oversized propex, stupidly large leisure battery, 1500 watt inverter, conditioning charger and consumer box. (My 1st thought was "back in the car and give up".
