Replaced a split pin in my non standard carburettor choke linkage that must have fallen off on Sunday when I changed the primary main jet.
Made the bus hard to start in the mornings.
Also tightened up a spade connector on the coil which dropped off and then leant on the tag.. and made the ignition very slightly juddery.

But it still drove between 25 and 50 miles like that..

Take it off and see if it’s worn. Do just the boot if needed

  13. How do you know if its worn,is it obvious?also is it just a case of removing those 6 hex bolts and dropping the one end? Thanks, never done one before

Grab a copy of Bentleys. Easiest thing is to remove the whole thing so undo the six bolts at either end and pull it out. Do you know when it was last out? If it doesn’t look like any dirt has got in then I’d just repack it with moly grease and put a new boot on. If it’s condition is a bit unknown then clean it up and look for signs of pitting.

Think you’re onto something mate. Grabbed this video and is it just me or is bottom pulley spinning a bit wonky?

  20. Does look a bit wonky. Not hard to distort them if you go mad with a puller. Are your crank and alt pulleys in alignment vertically?
