I also drove it home from Volksworld with mostly stuff I salvaged from junk boxes bought along by other TLBers.
Bought a Hayburner subscription, door step rubbers ,.. shineeeey nuts and wheel hub covers.

Drove back down the A3 and it got up the Guildford bypass at slightly over the 50mph speed limit in 4th gear. Easy 65-70mph on the flat, oil temperature 95 deg C.
I am going to say that the new engine hill climbs 10-20% faster than my old engines did ..the old ones used to rev like crazy off load but lack mid range grunt.

  3. Nice! Do you have the reference for that carpet? Does it need glue?

  4. It is from megavanmats, stretchy stuff, works really nicely.

The pack I bought came with high temp aerosol adhesive, I bought some brush on glue from them for the tighter spots too.

Driving to volksworld in @Gingerbus camper ( it really is a lovely bus) inspired me to pull my finger out and get mine started, after tapping the starter motor with a hammer it started although it was a bit smokey at first, I took it for a spin around EG and it really did drive great, @Gingerbus if you fancy a race along the Ardingly straight, bring it on big boy:thumbsup:

Ps, did I mention I’m fishing tomorrow

  6. Did you glue it on or use the pins and fasteners

  7. It's glued on. Some wooden panels fixed in the quarters and my bus had framed windows as it was a factory micro bus. One piece of carpet each side from sliding door to tailgate

  10. I have one to go on mine but no holes for it on the tailgate, probably will cut off the remaining pins and silicone it on

  11. Don't blame you, mine already had the holes in the tailgate. I wouldn't want to drill any more holes in it than necessary though

'Fraid so. Higher rating for the same size copper as standard and I'll be running quite a few extra wires in the long loom so it'll still fit through the pipe no problem.

  14. Are the cores the same size? Going to be beggars to crimp up if not...

Sorry yes, that's what I meant by the copper. I did the loom for my buggy with standard cable, just fancied going a bit more modern for the bus. It'll be a custom loom with two 10-way blade fuse boxes at the front, one ignition live and one battery live. there'll be another fuse box at the back for the leisure battery circuit. Absolutely NO inline fuses.

  16. The little stackable blade fuseholders are ideal for down the back.

I’ll post a pic if I can find one.

  18. Here you go. Blade fuses for the fuel cutoff and reversing lights on the fan shroud...

    Big blade for split charging...

    a fuse lb 6s.jpg

They're made by some Italian(?) company. Good quality, waterproof(-ish), from fleaBay.

I was going to run cables from the front for the fuel cut off and reversing lights. What's the big fuse on the split charge for?

  20. To protect that gert big run of LB cable to the front. There's another fuse on top of the relay to prevent starting from the leisure battery if it all goes goes pear-shaped (although the current LB is actually a starter battery).

PS When I said fuel cutoff, I meant the shutoff solenoid under the van.
