I'm sure he would love to do another bay, after he has done his old BSA!

Thought "I wonder how my old van would be coping with this traffic". So far 100 miles in 4 hrs heading home from Devon. Only 142 to go! :(

    We are in the T4.

That sounds like a rough journey. Bet you're glad you're in a T4. Doesn't make the boredom any easier though!

  10. Bit of variety, I suppose. There's quite a pile of EMPI parts in next-door's garden...

  11. Made a start on filling in some large holes in the passenger side cab step - it was already 50% fibreglass now its nearer 75%... ah well it'll last for a couple of years before I can take it in for a mini resto ;)

    It's a Reimo Tourmobile 6XL .........

Managed to waterproof it the other day.

I believe with the connection piece to the van it comes out some 6m.
We were once warned at a caravan and camping club site at Scarborough that we would exceed their regulated pitch allocation as they were reducing the size of them the following year.

When it's beyond saving I will look at one of the inflatable/airbeam awnings for an easy erection (snigger)

Made a fuel pressure gauge kit for when my bus comes back from SGS Aircooled with new sills and outriggers and no holes in the chassis. Probably end of next week.

Thoughts are that the aftermarket fuel pump is putting out too much pressure and overwhelming the carburettor. Stupid as I have an OG one with user cleanable filter gauze kicking around as a working spare in the bus.
When I get it back in return for paying SGS about half the value of the bus after it is repaired I will report on findings.

  15. Just back from hols ... I'll check with Fellows re the reversing light.

  16. Went camping for the first time since may last year! In the van too! Our friends were amazed we made it. Also rolled out the upcycled firepit

  17. Finally fitted my Butty's Bits accelerator linkage. Much more positive pedal response though I have to hold my foot off higher when cruising as there is no longer an inch and a half of play.

Removed all the engine tinware and cleaned the filthy engine.

Fitted an Empi engine adaptor. The ex beetle engine no longer hangs limply from the gearbox.

    Fitted a Bosch SVDA distributor.

Fitted a replacement inlet manifold with clean and clear risers.

Getting close to a test fire to see if this engine is any good - or a big paperweight.

Also removed the long hot air pipe from under the bus. It was packed solid front to rear with earth, stones and sand.

Had to do this as unlike in South Africa, I intend to run and use the heating system.

Made a right old mess on the drive as a consequence which took me an age to sweep and tidy up.

  20. Hopefully worked out why I'm only getting about 13.2v at the battery with the engine running, I've not got a gearbox earth strap fitted. Which would also explain the extra wiring from the alternator to battery.
