  3. Its all attached to the viking roof mechanism ie front and back , or left nd right as you look at it. Its all intended to be bolts and nut fitting as i dont trust self tappers so bit of a one orft! Its a bit rough up close but a bit of time will tidy it up. As per usual i was prototyping and its good enough to actually do the job but not as neat as id like it. Ah well... will use it and see if it does as intended.

  4. Pottered about whilst waiting for the other half to get some parts from GSF.

Took the fuel tank cover off in readiness to fit the replacement fuel lines.

    Found this one perished

  7. I threw it back down the drive. The two problems I thought I'd fixed, reoccurred. Talk of selling the ungrateful lump.

Drove 170 mile to just outside Burton upon Trent and it's far too hot

Pulled the passenger seat belt mounting out with my bare hands...

Just a tiny bit of rust visible in some cracks.

    Tidied it up

Made up a couple of plates and welded them in .. some of that metal is paper thin.

Need to go to GSF tomorrow for some new bolts nuts and seatbelt fixing plate (s)..
Drivers side looks just as ropey...

Would you mind measuring the distance to the seat mounts from the bulkhead? I need to install some in ours but have no reference point. I assume there's just 2 at the back?

The one nearest the door is 15cm from the bulkhead to the back edge of the bracket.
The one nearest the middle is harder to measure as the bulkhead in my walkthrough is curved. But should be touching a straight line aross the bus going to 15cm in front of the drivers side bulkhead near the door from 15 in front of the passenger side bulkhead near the door..

  14. Re keyed all five different doors to match the ignition, went for a celebratory drive and broke down.

  16. Replaced my 2 week old brand new engine lid rubber that didn’t let the engine lid close! for an alanhschofield one that does now close :) …Why is it so many new parts and accesorries for our vans are such marmite!!! and are not fit for purpose!

Then took her for a blast down the M3 Sunbury to Lightwater, got a bit carried away and was doing about 70mph and was marvelling in how well she was running, then noticed my worry gauge (oil temp) she was very hot! so backed off and cruised home at more sedate 55mph.

So what temps did you get to?

  18. On the gauge it was just below 130˚c - but when I backed off it didn’t take long to drop back to 110 ˚c

  19. Changed all the jets in the replacement generic Chinese carb for genuine solex ones. The Chinese ones are shocking, really rough holes and visibly different sizes from the solex ones. Hoping for a modest improvement in running!

Glued some droopy hatch and door seals in.

Mounted the spare wheel on the roof rack, complete with chain to stop some 'orrible youth nicking it for a laugh.

Built a prototype little box between the driver seat for general stuff and drinks out of old offcuts of wood in the shed, but its pretty good so it might become the 'propeor' one for a while.

Wired up the stereo finally and found a long lost CD still in it. Double result.

Put yet more fuel in it. Drove it.

Ahh perhaps I should chill out a bit more then, I start to get all concerned and worried if mine gets above 100° and starts to edge nearer to 110°
