Neighbour issues

  2. Not allocated parking, just a free for all. Also you can see in the top left of the image the area where all the garages are located so no driveways, I'm guessing this area would also fit into public.

I appreciate if its on the public highway it should be taxed but this area is off road, non tarmac'ed, brick paving. I have sorn'd and clearly shown the car is unused. I'm aware even if the wheels were off and no engine was in the vehicle the law would still apply but I doing what I can with what I have.

  3. If it were me, I wouldn't send any letter. Certainly not to the whole neighbourhood. I'd go round and knock on the door of who I thought was responsible. I'd explain how I felt, how the feeling of a neighbour not being happy with me was upsetting me, etc. You know, talk from the heart, pull the emotional heart strings, show them what a nice bloke and family man you are. Wear your heart on your sleeve. In their minds, because they don't know you from Adam, they've built their own nasty-bloke, inconsiderate neighbour from hell, image in their heads. Show them that you're actually a kind, sensitive, considerate and caring individual. Then I would ask them 'you don't know who's doing it do you, as I really want to sort things out and make peace with them, and address any problem they may have with me, because life's too short' and all that. Chances are they'll not admit there and then that it was them. But, you may find it'll stop after that.

You need to find out if its classed as a public highway. If it is "I'm doing what i can with what I've got" won't cut it.
I'd happily report any untaxed / sorn'd motors parked outside my gaff.

  5. Can't I just go round and chin 'em? ;)

It's not about being un-neighbourly though is it? Tax it or get rid pretty much sums it up if it's a public highway.

  13. if the council do come round, which if it takes them as long to come round to fix a street light wont be anytime soon, i would just say you didnt think it was public as it was a designated parking bay

  18. So bodyrock. I hope all this advice clears it all up for you! ;)

  19. Youve done nothing wrong. Ignore them.

You cant help it if your circumstances change and you cant afford to tax your vehicle. You did a SORN and made it obvious you are not using it. What more can you do. Getting rid isnt an option. The world isnt always black and white.

  20. So the census is keep stum and let them be plonkers
