Neighbour issues

  1. The landlord should be able to tell you if the parking space is part of his property or not.

Your close looks fairly new. Three scenarios here:
    1) It's a public highway. You should be Taxed.(
    2) It's an unadopted road. That is a road built by the developers, but not yet adopted by the council. Council can confirm. You probably in luck if that's the case, though you may be braking a covenant by keeping an untaxed car there....but nobody apart from the developers and the super-rich bother about enforcing covenants.)
    3) The parking space is owned by the landlord. They should be able to confirm this (from the deeds of sale). In fact you can probably look on your local council planning website for any neighbours development, it may show a map with the nearest properties (including parking) on it. They'd be encapsulated by a black line linked to the property if they are owned. Private land. Sorn = Good.)

I used to live in a new close where our parking space was owned, with a continuous piece of land joining the front of our house to the space (which was mostly infront of the neighbours house). We had other spaces at the top of our close which were shared (i.e. public-ish). The spaces at the bottom of the close looked completely normal (tarmac road space rather than brick). People used to get very protective over the spaces, police were even called. All got a bit silly.
All in all, it took 10 years until the road was adopted by the Council. I go passed it now and they've got voucher parking. Ha Ha. The evil neighbourhood watch person had their way! Be interesting to know who fights over the 'hidden' public spaces at the top of the close. I'll have to go find out.

  2. It is an adopted highway so therefore I was in the wrong. Hey ho.

    Cheers for the input though.

  3. OMG, I have just read this thread from start to finish, you must be proper stressed. I hope you still park your bus on their front tho, this would make all the hassle worth while for me and as mentioned by a number of others you need to keep smiling. Being over nice to someone who doesn't like you for some reason will really do their heads in!

We are a two car family living in a row of terraced houses and then I went and bought a bus, lol. The bus sits on our front and the other cars are parked over the road where I know no one else parks so no probs really!

Wish I could help you dude, I went to give my old neighbour a Glasgow kiss once but luckily thought better of it just millimetres from his nose, he would have loved that!

Keep smiling and let them be the ones to stress!

    Robo...
