  1. It's got nothing to do with early or late they are all old. It's just not a 26k bus.
I seem to not be the only one thinking that either.
If you get that for it I will applaud you and admit I was wrong.

  7. my son's neighbour has a nice bay westy and his wife nagged him to sell it. So he put it up with a poor ad and a silly price and as he hoped nobody was interested and he's still got it and a happy man.

Save a couple of the photo slots after you've done the tech / mech / great condition bit, and 'sell the dream' in them - a photo of the van in a good country landscape or by the beach, family picnic stuff.
Corny I know, but you're trying to get more than 25K for it and anyone with that money isn't going to be buying it to tinker with, they're the people who love the idea of owning a VW camper and want the dream of beaches and surf boards or happy family holidays with the kids and the dog.

And as said above, the description really has to sell it too - not just a line or two.

It's a great bus @Geordie and whoever buys it will be really pleased, but the market will be much more limited at that price, so you really need to convince people it's what they want and worth every penny.
Good luck with the sale x

@Geordie as they say on TLB, your camper your advert,or something like that, if you are happy with the advert and asking price stick with it, take no notice if you are, I hope you get the asking price, it's a lovely van, and an early which makes it even better

There's a few other places I'm waiting to hear back from. Hopefully may not need to go down the eBay route.

I agree with the others @Geordie , lovely van, poo advert. You need to sell the lifestyle - not the oil leaks and starting probs one - but the family happily together camping and creating fond memories. The freedom of the open road, the envy of your mates cos you're living the dream and a bit cooler than they are.

The folks who buy it will want to be reassured by lots of info about it, not too technical but more to show what an honest bus it is.

Someoneone on here a while ago had photos of their van and said they were actually photos that were taken for a magazine article - a lifestyle type thing. They had the interior with the table set out with matching table mates, a little flower on, matching plates etc. Tho it may not be to everyone's taste it did look good and it's like 'dressing' a house to sell it. I think the market you are aiming at will want that Thor of thing.

If it's a couple buying it - I'm going to be massively gender stereotyping here - it will prob be a joint investment, quite a large one - whilst the condition of the van is important it's the lifestyle extras that may sway the purchase. The thinking of future adventures.

I'm sure most of us when we bought our first van had images of future trips and adventures away in it. Although I personally didn't have a matching tableware idea, (as I'm a scruff who will eat out of a saucepan) I did have thoughts of being on a lovely camp site, of parking up roadside with a beautiful view, of cozy bed made up in my own little house on wheels, of the new places we would discover as we would be free to go where we wanted, not stuck in a hotel. These are the things that sway you to put your money into a camper rather than a spangly new car imho :)

Good luck with the sale :) xx

  20. ^ those are good examples to follow, bottom one especially -as others have said you need to "sell the dream" however cheesy that might sound.

one other thing to mention (i'm ex motor trade so remembering this from dim and distant sales training) you need to not only mention the "feature" but also the "benefit".

so something like this is good: "Great 1600cc engine that pulls well , and is in great working order has been very reliable."
the "feature" is the 1600 engine, the "benefit" is great working order has been very reliable

The other text from that add i'd rewrite as follows:

Clutch replaced and Flywheel skimmed which means gear changes are nice and smooth and you won't need to buy another clutch for many years

Clutch and throttle cables renewed so the throttle is nice a smooth and easy to drive

Pop top canvas replaced around a year ago (big cost) so it's nice and cosy with no draughts

Propex heating system so you can get the van toasty warm on those chilly nights camping

Period Style roofrack included so you have lots of space for luggage

Converted to 12v ( long before we owned it) which gives reliable starting

    Immobilizer Fitted for security

CD/Radio Fitted so you can listen to your favorite tunes when cruising.

    etc.

    etc

    you get the idea?
