Historic tax

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by paradox, Feb 13, 2024.

  1. Sorted at the local post office piece of piddle

They checked on the computer that it was over 40 years old
Pressed a few buttons then said it’s now registered as historic
They took part of the v5 to send off and said you will get a new one sent out.

When I enquired about a refund for the tax I paid they said it depends on the dvla sometimes they refund sometimes they don’t and if I have any issues I need to contact the dvla.

Looking at the receipt they gave me it’s now got 12 months tax from the beginning of feb this year
Hopefully that’s the end of the palaver and fingers crossed for a refund.

  4. You do have to send them a pic of yourself in a leopardskin thong. New rules.

  5. Our little Post Office in the village is run by a right miserable cow, but she did my application for my 944 over the counter and that was it, just the long wait the other end at DVLA, took nearly two months to get my V5 back

Didn’t need to. It’s exempt. I guess she just knew that. I’m not the only person here with a historic bike. A guy up the road has 16.

Your buses were both already registered as being old enough then.

Maybe. But I can’t remember physically registering it as being old enough.

  19. It’s normally imported vans that have to prove their age.
If it was first registered in the uk then dvla already know its age

I didn’t have to prove my vans age because even though it’s an import
Because in the special notes on the v5 it stated the date of import and the date of manufacture

  20. Did you have to wear your thong to the Post Office? Bit nippy out.
