jack away.....but i dont think you can on your type of engine? i suppose you could put an inline fan somewhere though to pull the air through someone will know

  3. That was what i was thinking of doing just a inline one, I haven't had a good look at the rest of the heating pipe's as i have got load's of belly pans on so i can't see them but i am going to check for leak's first! It is just a pain in the arse when you pull up to a junction or traffic light's and the window starts to steam up again after just trying to demist it!

Moley you need to check first for leaks around the heater pods. It's not uncommon for cables to seize and snap or the pods to fail. They automatically close if the cables etc snap or fail. Also check they ate secured under the dashboard. Took me a bit of time to figure that out on mine.

Also forgot to mention that I have seen a couple of pods with twisted arm levers.

Get the engine running (might help to have someone rev it a bit) and run your hand over the mushroom looking part of the pod. If the red levers are all down and air is escaping here then your pods are not doing what they should.

the pods i pictured have a few small rust holes on the edges, i presume filler is ok on these as i see no sense in welding them?

  7. the pod's are wired open as the cable's are snapped i have got a pretty good bit of heat from them it is more just when the engine speed drop's that i get more of a hot breath from them .

also with the lack of cables on my van i presume the pods are the things that get cable tied open in the hot position if cables are knackered?

  9. i would probably use silicone rick won't wiggle loose and be heat resistant too

okies, cool, i'm keen to start now.....gotta go over PYE's sometime between xmas/new year for more bits, it's possible i "may" have a smattering of heat this year

Others may feel differently to me but I've used exhaust bandage to seal parts of my system. When it works it can get mighty hot.

    Ha the cheek of it!
quick question, the heater pods are sprung..... if no cables fitted are they shut (warm air to atmosphere) or open (warm air to cabin)?

the heater pods are sprung shut (from memory) as we cable tied ours fully open

We are doing the cables on Gusbus tonight (we did attempt them on the westy but it was a mare) - it is very fiddly but we have the dashtop out and no clock pods in, much easier.

You might (and I hope you dont) find the cables themselves are right sods to remove from the tubes

to be fair i'm a way off total heating working.....i'm quite happy to have it on full and then in summer cut the cable ties.......
