Not sure Bern I'll do some reasearch tomorrow or today in fact, think it might be a different tank, sits in a different place to the bus but I don't know for sure yet. I'll report back !
Yes it's a std tank but FI so need twin pipes for fuel in and out, new £215 so I'll look out for second hand! Nice hot day today, good to be in a big tent in a small locker welding!! Had to go for a bike ride with my mate for some fresh air later
I should be able to help you out on the tank front.... Will know more once I've pulled the one from the breaker
Well I'm still here and still chipping away at it! I've finished welding the floor in the fuel tank section, fed up of crawling in and out of the locker for a bit so working on the inner sill/ outrigger Work to do on the bottom of the B pillar and front edge of the lower floor. Bled the brakes in readiness for towing it to its new home hopefully on Thursday weather permitting. Whitewashed the inside or the new workshop this morning to brighten it up a bit, can't wait to get in there now so I can make some real progress.
Are there any signs of old cavity wax? I had my fingers crossed for you for a better bottom six inches
No cavity wax mate, plenty of signs of the North Sea though It really isn't that bad, the o/s outrigger area is the worst bit and I've nearly sorted that, the locker floor is awful but I'm going to cover that with underseal and plywood
The paravan had it aswell as underseal from new It might have been an extra addition as it was an emergency services panel of some kind
More likely to be a dealer/user option than factory... although with the placed grommets in the ends of the sills, chassis, and wheel arches, it does make you wonder why more weren't done as standard!! MK2 golfs were cavity waxed as standard
Bit more progress, outer sill on, loads of work behind there done, like this little captive plate for the locker door shut Move to the new garage delayed due to rain and holidays but should get there next week.
Bit of fabrication on front inner step, Always nice to compare ones work to the PO's That'll have to come off! Then this arrived for the camper
You wont be dissapointed with going electronic ignition dude The quality of points nowadays is so poor its a logical step How are you going to deal with the overlapping section on the arch step repair come painting time?
Finished setting up the accuspark on the camper the back on with the arch and re doing that floor! Why? Just tacked in, no more time today
Hard to see in my crappy pics but I joddled the lip so the new bit sits flush where it should, when it's sealed and filled you won't see the join, hopefully!
