Dont like sport apart from watching snooker , but i recon , in the 80s, at Mike Tysons peak, if Ali was also in his peak i think Tyson would win hands down although because Tyson loves Ali so much he would have let Ali win . It would surly have been the largest purse ever for many many years still to come . A great little interview when they first met
Some do, perhaps they're not hero's? I met Paddy Crerand at a game a couple of years ago and while we were talking told him I loved watching him when I was a kid, he said he's not 90! I told him to F OFF! He's definitely off my hero list, the tw..!
I reckon Ali would have made him look tame. I remember watching the george forman fight and the Frazier fights. Foreman was just pure horror movie and Frazier fought just like Tyson but a better puncher, granted Ali lost the first one to him on points but in the end Frazier couldn't handle Ali's skill and mind. Tyson was a thug that got lucky ( imo ) Ali was a master of his craft!
I never really did heroes, but I'd did admire Gordon Banks. I used to love playing goalkeeper as a young boy, jackets as goal posts and dreams of greatness! Maybe he did have an affect on me then
I have had several over the years in various sports :- Stan Matthews Stirling Moss Muhammed Ali Seb Coe Lewis Hamilton
Eddie the Eagle Edwards just for his true guts . You only have to look down at those jumps and think ..Jesus no way .
I'll never forget seeing Ray Charles win the World Darts Championship. Quite a few injuries, but what a player!
I love Ali - but he never faced anything with the speed, raw aggression and power of Tyson. Granted Frazier might, might have edged him on punch power but no one moved like Tyson in his prime - most of them were taller and far fatter - Tyson was a pure ball of fury. Tyson remains the one boxer where you genuinely thought some would die at his hands, hasn't been one like him since.
