Probably go for the Rover 2000 which was the pick of a poor bunch. My Dad used to keep cars for years. I learnt to drive in a Morris Oxford which handled like a tea-tray. He's a Honda man in his old age of course ;)

  4. No! Good grief.

My dad was big into motorbikes and cars. He had a few Vincent motorbikes. Well out of my price range now. Pre war MGs and a couple of Morgans. He also got a six bearth viking bay when it was only nine months old. He kept that for 14 years.

His last car was a 1303 karmann beetle which I now use every day.

My all time favourite car. The xk 120. I only go to Coventry motor museum to see that, and the SS. Swallow Swift homage!

Austin Maxi x reg LFT 202X
Rover metro diesel m reg M 768 MJW (first car I drove)
    Rover 25 w reg W 504 NBB
    Rover 25 03 reg Nk 03 ...
Nissan note 58 reg NO IDEA

funny how I can remember those reg from my childhood

I'd have the maxi as it seemed huge when I was a nipper.

  11. No votes for Mk1 Fiestas? My Sis had two. Great little cars.

  12. My dad always bought Volkswagen beetles and then a fastback after his mini sub frames rusted within three years from new. Interestingly, despite half a lifetime's loyalty to the descendants of the Nazi KDF-wagen he's never bought Japanese cars because of 'what they did in the war.'o_O

Back in the 70's a mate of mine bought a GT40 with his dad, used it as his daily driver for three years and then sold it for £13k profit. Worth several million now. They only bought the GT40 because a deal on a Feza 250 GTO fell through.

Wish my dad had been into cars.

  18. SD1s are still handsome cars today! Don't really look dated. Pity they couldn't build them properly.
