    What are you talking about?
Clearly the discussion isn't disturbing, some of the attitudes being shown are. (As I stated)

Am I operating in a parallel universe or something?
There have been blatantly discriminatory comments made, that it has been deemed are perfectly acceptable by others, and no one finds that remotely disturbing? No? If I used some of the phrases used on here I'd get absolutely slated.
FFS this place gets weirder and weirder.

Countered by some, held up as fine by others.
I just didn't realise there were that sort of people on here that's all.

Mr bs please do not tar all posters the same. There have been challenges on here and I think I have stated on here I'm shocked by some views made

And for once maybe not editing/deleting posts has shown a different side to Tlb.

(Obviously not every user in here has made racist or offensive posts in past nor have all past modded posts been edited for that reason, if that makes sense)

  9. Iperhaps said this previously , this , like all similar situations ,will only be resolved by agreement born thru discussion ,driving people "underground " only in my opinion and from what I have seen in this life , is as good as a recruitment boost to said "organisations", I know it s "old hat" to some ,but look what happened in Ireland , eventually ,the people demanded that the killing for whatever reason the killings took place, had to stop. In my opinion it cannot be outwith the remit of any peoples(Govt.) to negotiate , however wrong that may seem to some , or as Gandi said " an eye for an eye ? if yes, soon the world will be blind"

  10. And the Bible says "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" but just because it's written down and held up as religious work doesn't make it legal, reasonable, sane or right.

I reckon I must be losing the plot.
Where have I tarred everyone with the same brush?
I state I'm shocked by some views, in your response disagreeing with me you state you're shocked by some views....Wtf?
F uck it, just delete my posts.

  12. Indeed, but some people do think it legal, reasonable, sane and right - unfortunately.

I agree some peoples opinions are hard to take but in frank discussion you have to accept it as their viewpoint whether we like it or not we don't have to agree with them but you have to have everyones opinion otherwise it is a imbalanced discussion .

To put down peoples opinions is stifling.

There's quite a big difference between attitudes which I questioned, and opinions which I certainly haven't, but don't let facts get in the way of a clever response.

  15. Complaining about other people's opinions without attempting to counter them is stifling. If people disagree they should say so and provide information to back themselves up or just leave the thread. Expecting TLB to be like a gathering of yoghurt knitters is rather unreasonable. We are a broad church :D

You didn't realise there are people on TLB with a lower IQ than you? Is this what your saying.?

Tbh i haven't read any extreme views on this thread just a couple of posts from people who are confused/scared/worried and that is perfectly understandable given the extreme nature of this crime.

I may have missed some posts so feel free to pull me up if i am wrong !

Not what i meant at all but I'm sure there are; as well as many with higher IQs.

  20. And, to be fair, many with very high IQs can be insufferable bigots. IQ is no indicator of rationality. Apropos of nothing I am reminded of Eric Hobsbawm, a brilliant historian but an unapologetic Marxist/Stalinist - when asked if he though the deaths of over 20 million people in the Soviet Union was worth it to bring about some kind of socialist Elysium, he said yes
