Whats your best guitar solo record of all time

  1. Freebird is impressive, but I have to say the entire 'electric' album by the cult is magnificent. Billy Duffy at his best. But 'orgone accumulator' by Hawkwind is fantastically simple.

Must confess, always liked Prince, but I didn't realise he could play like this, seemingly so effortlessly - watch his solo on this:

  12. Came across this thread from a while back but I guess it is before the crash.
For me anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan gets my vote for solos, riffs and rhythm...normally at the same time.
But this is one of favs for the riff

Inspired by this thread I'm off to go through my CDs.

  13. Good thread, never seen it before

  14. Loving this thread, and so many to choose from, Freebird being a particular favourite of mine but no mentions of the mighty Pantera (cowboys from hell, this love, I'm broken) or even Megadeath or Anthrax.
But the master of solo's, for me anyway, as a life long fan, has got to be Kirk Hammet's solo in Outlaw Torn, so much feeling building throughout the tune, the deep simple base line keeping a steady back rhythm, the power of the simple structure and James Hetfields voice building to a glorious climax from Kirks lead!
Still get goose bumps just thinking about it! I am a bit of a fan though.
You can burn me to this one, just make sure you hire a massive PA system!

  15. Very good choice.
Can I add Rush - 'Working Man' from Time Machine Live CD

  16. Anything from frank Zappa but if pushed to narrow it down ...

    I won't :p

  17. How about the solo in this then, superb.
