I dont live by many rules. The first one I have is to avoid health services like my life depends upon it. . The second one is that I can only eat it if I make it myself. I break the second one a bit.but not much cos most made things are terrible Unless it’s good fish and chips, Made in lard.
We like to amuse ourselves with the NHS BMI calculator now and again at work, just to see who wins The Most Chronically Obese. It is usually me tbh.
Yeah, the NHS BMI calculator want very nice to me either.... about 13 st 12 and 5’10”. It’s quite disconcerting as I really do not look overweight!
Oh. I’m 5’8” and just under 12 stone. But I have quite an active job, as a gardener. Ironically, I get lighter in the winter, as my muscle mass decreases, due to not so much work, because of the weather, and things stop growing. Is your ‘extra’ weight fat, or muscle? I could imagine that if s short professional power lifter did the BMI chart, he too would be ‘obese’. If that’s any comfort...
Mines definitely fat. I lost my dog in nov18. When he was young I walked him miles every week. Even when he was an old boy we’d still stroll around at a slow pace for 40mins or so every morning. Since he died I’ve put on over a stone in weight.
Time for a new mutt? Wins every time in the ‘good for mental and physical health’ catagory. And far better than a diet.
I sorry to hear about your dog, you say since he died you've put on lots of weight, you're not supposed to eat his *****ing dog food you know
My wife used to be a Doctor's receptionist....yes I know, she was even worse at home....her Doctor said that the BMI was rubbish ... I'm only 11 1/2 stone and 5'8" ..... think I'm in th overweight category.
You realise this is all because the NHS told BoJo that one reason he nearly died of COVID 19 was that hes fat. So now the NHS is finally going to have to focus on making people more healthy, so fewer of them die.
Most of the people who need to listen won't. If they did we wouldn't have such an obesity problem in the UK.
Just to 'weigh'in on this one... I'm 18 stone, 6ft1. I walk the dog twice a day and go running probably 3 times a week. My usual run is 4.5 miles and every few weeks I'll do a longer run (10miles or thereabouts). I do the odd half marathon as well. So yeah I'm a fatty and built for comfort not for speed, however I can still shift when required..
