Not really as I'm out and back in 24 hours, only staying the night at Schiphol as I'll miss the last flight home.
I'm hoping the airlines have some sort of distancing in place (but I imagine I'll be disappointed). I've got a pile of masks to take!

  2. I have to go to Venlo for training, in fact I was out there just before lockdown. I always drive, it's so much easier. If I was you Doug I'd insist the company gives you a day either side for travel. It's actually a nice drive providing you don't hit traffic in the kennedy tunnel in Antwerp.

Hmmm trouble is there are 2 of us going. I'm in Bristol, Jeff is in Leeds.

  4. Makes no difference, your not flying together from those locations, you can still meet him out there. I'd rather be sat in your Beemer alone than breathing the recycled air of who knows who. At least when you smell a fart you know who's it is:D

  5. Well they've done something right and my take on things is whatever the rules the Europeans made the government enforced them - the idiots over here just went to the beach ..
Matey was in France for 3 months so saw how seriously the French public took the virus with an enforced lockdown.
He came back and couldn't believe how lax we were about basic sensible precautions such as masking up outside the home .
We got it wrong which is why people are still sadly suffering and dying , the Europeans got in earlier and got it right ..

Agreed. Not going to happen this time though as I've booked everything now.
I'm quite intrigued to see what changes airports etc have made to be honest!
One good thing to come out of this is I can't see me going back to flying every week.

  7. Don’t count on it.. not a lot different than going down your local Tesco, There are rules/recommendations but as you know as a frequent traveller Airport’s generally bring out weird behaviour in people ,
Oh don’t forget to fill in your Uk government location Form for your return,
even though we don’t have to quarantine they still want to know where you go when you get back believe it or not :)

Chris, other governments reduced the distance but had the mandatory mask wearing in place along side it.
Government apologists at every turn though, no matter what you say some counter argument comes your way.
Don't worry Bozo is getting it done and remember a lie becomes true if you say it enough times

I lifted the following off the link below.
"It was compulsory to wear a mask throughout the airport, which wasn't much of an issue and everyone was,” Nick continued.
"The outgoing flight was okay, the plane was 95 percent full so it wasn't separated much and there wasn't a gap between seats.
"The pilot then announced that masks were to be worn at all times, unless you are eating and drinking. We were then told that they would be doing a full trolley service.
“But the problem with that though was that as soon as the trolley came and people got food and drinks, everyone had their mask off - so what was the point in the masks, really?

  10. A woman contacted 5 Live on Tuesday to complain that wearing a mask would make her glasses steam up.

Thats the mentality we are faced with.

  11. If people weren’t dying it would be a farcical comedy.

because the majority are stupid following the even stupider press - everybody said ( press led) hey the rest of the world are 1 or 1 1/2 metres why aren't we and the expert said yes a metre+ but 2 metres are safer I've worn a mask for weeks to the shops . why? because most shop workers think they are immune !¬

Eurotunnel is best.. stay in your car.

Aircraft themselves may not be so bad as the air con has pretty good filters anyway and air is constantly being pumped in off the engines.
Unlike offices and airport terminals where aircon often recirculates manky air without filtering.
Planes are a great way to spread infected people though. And its why I dont ever want a return to easy air flight for the masses.

Personally I havent flown for pleasure since 2008 and for business since 2010. Its just such a bad experience since 9/11

But surely all those selfish idiots who don't want to wear masks are already doing that!

  16. My daughter has just flown in from Zurich ,no spacing on the plane but everyone had to wear a mask ,no food or drinks for crew or passengers.

  17. If your glasses steam up then the mask isn't fitted properly ,maybe because it's a rubbish mask and the wire isn't strong enough to make a tight fit around the nose . Medical style masks should be worn blue side out this ensures that the folds face downwards allowing droplets to run off rather than sit in the fold

  20. Do I need to be told to wear the pants or can I decide for myself?..

I've heard some people don't always get wet..

and if I don't wear them who do I blame

What if I get splashed and don't notice and get someone else's sofa soggy.!. it's a minefield out there..
