Drive , a neo-noir masterpiece. Valhalla Rising, awesome, poetic even in its violence The Descendants, touching and not sentimental Melancholia, typical LVT Tree of life, needs to be watched not described.
Saw The Dictator last night. Not his best but a must see for the speech at the UN alone. Satire genius! Cheers s
anyone else think the shoot out scene in "HEAT" , as they leave the bank wiv the swag is, like how a movie bank job shoot out should be filmed ? astounding !
The Tempest with Helen Mirran and a host of other starts....turned off after 50 mins, totally useless movie imo
Just resurrecting this old thread.... I need to watch a decent movie (or avoid bad ones) What have you watched lately?
As it so appens, last week on the telly was a Korean film called "Oldboy", I was tempted to watch it as you don't often see a warning of ' live octopus eating ' on the telly, great plot, good twists......not so good if you have to go to the dentist soon. All in all a well filmed and very watchable movie.
In the last few weeks I have seen... Mystic River - from 2003. A great slightly dark thriller directed by Clint Eastwood The Guard - from last year is a great story about a policeman in Ireland. Super 8 - is a good film featuring aliens but has a good story. Similar to Monsters, another watchable film. Boiler Room - is from 2000 and along the lines of Wall Street. Worth a watch. TT Closer to the Edge - a documentary type film about the Isle of Man TT. Fantastic real life drama. Unknown - Liam Neeson - good (speaking of this genre 'Touching The Void' is great) Limitless - I enjoyed this, a good movie Grand Torino - superb! Point Blank - French but a good thriller Frost/Nixon - enjoyable Before the Devil Knows you're Dead - A great Philip Seymour Hoffman film, recommended. There Will Be Blood - a fab film Pick the bones out of those!
